Thankful Turkeys

Yesterday for our first ever "official" FHE with a toddler, I decided to embrace Cal's newfound love of crayons and paper. So we traced our hands, decorated them to look like turkeys (or just scribbled all over the paper with a blue crayon if your name is Callie) and then wrote what are thankful for on the feathers (and other parts, as needed). A pretty simple little exercise, but one I think is important. We have so much to be grateful for, and I think it's good to take a minute to sit down and count those blessings.

I hung our finished masterpieces up on the closet door where we can see them all the time. Every time Callie passes by pushing her box, she looks up, points, and says, "Boggle! Boggle!" Cutest turkey noise I've ever heard!

Photos from Phones - October 2014 Round Up

I got a book from the library that we all love. It's called Pick a Circle, Gather Squares: A Fall Harvest of Shapes and has a really cute little rhyme with awesome illustrations. But the line that has stuck with me all month is from the first page: "Apple crisp October day." That pretty much sums up pretty much all of our October. We've had a fantasticly gorgeous fall and the warm weather just sticks around (can't complain about that!) so we have spent a lot of time outside on walks and at the park (not as much hiking this month, unfortunately). Other highlights: making "apple pie baked apples" with my activity days girls, a visit from Uncle Nate, the arrival of Nate and Shelly's baby girl, Evelyn, and Halloween shenanigans.
