Christmas Song-A-Day Countdown [10 Dec]

Today's song choice comes from the one and only Josh Groban. It seems like Little Drummer Boy is kind of a "love it or hate it" holiday song. I happen to love it. I even remember learning it on the piano and teaching it to my friend Gabby a LONG, long time ago.

Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland

We had a pretty significant snowstorm hit us last Wednesday and since it's stayed so cold, the snow has really stuck around.

That hasn't stopped Cal and I from trekking out in this winter wonderland.  I'm so glad my baby likes to be outside!

Oh Christmas Tree

It was a chilly 14 degrees on Saturday, but we didn't let that stop us from heading into the mountains for our 3rd annual Great Colorado Christmas Tree Hunt.  We bundled up Callie in lots of layers (two onesies, leggings, two pairs of socks, mittens, fleece pants, fleece jacket, beanie, and barbaloot suit on top) and headed up the hill.  There was a lot more snow this year compared to last year or the year before in what has become our traditional tree-getting spot, Tigwon Road, just past Minturn.  We probably could have used the snowshoes, but instead left them in the car.  Callie enjoyed being outside and stayed nice and toasty (ha ha), except for her cute rosy cheeks and nose, until we were almost back to the car when she decided she'd had enough and would rather be napping.  Oh, well.  It was a fun excursion anyway.

The snow we got on Wednesday has stuck around
due to the below zero temps we've been having this week.
It was such a pretty drive!

Walkin' in a winter wonderland.

Our chubby little barbaloot
(and her loyal barbaloot carrier).

She's a beaut!
(I'm talking about the tree.)

When we got home and got it all set up and ready to light, we discovered that each of our four strands of Christmas lights was defective - they either were completely dead or only had one half of the strand lighting up.  We figured it was a fuse problem and spent the better part of the RSL game trying to figure it out to no avail. And off to Wal-Mart Gregg went to get us some new ones.  The final product was completed on Sunday after church and we've been basking in the glow of our prize ever since.

Ta - da!

It just can't be Christmas without The Carpenters.

Christmas Song-A-Day Countdown [6 Dec]

Love this version of The Holly and the Ivy - we always used to play it in high school band Christmas concerts because it was a favorite of our director, Dan Stowell. Gotta have some Mannheim Steamroller in the Christmas music rotation!
