In the Bleak Midwinter

Not exactly intentional, but a fun coincidence nonetheless, was our day full of fun wintertime activities that fell on December 21st, Winter Solstice. We skied a few runs that morning at Nordic, had a delightful cookie decorating party with my siblings and mom and grandparents on Zoom, ran some insane errands (WHO goes to Walmart at 4:30 on the Monday before Christmas?! Us, well, at least Gregg, that's who), ate Panda Express for dinner in Grandma and Grandpa Blanchard's driveway, spied the "Christmas Star" conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn through Paul's scope, and did a Christmas light tour through North Ogden and Liberty. After the kids were in bed, Gregg and I wrapped the rest of the gifts we had stashed and set them out under the tree. (It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!) I feel like we really brought some bright to the bleak on this day. ;)

Uh-oh, line's gettin' long behind us . . . guess it's
time to head home. (Our plan to get there
first thing and ski a handful of runs before any sort
of line forms has been working out to perfection,
actually!)

Cookie time!

So. Many. Cookies!

After everyone finished up with their cookies
at their homes, we just visited and read stories
and played songs for a couple hours! It was so fun!

Grandma Blanchard's porch looking festive.

Grandma's neighbor's projection lights
were fun to play in.

I didn't even take a pic of the Christmas
Star, but I stole this one from my mom.
It was pretty cool to see!

Roy City's lights display was very impressive!

Wrapped and ready!
