There hasn't been a ton of hiking done this month (we've kind of substituted skiing for that), but we did get a couple of walks to the lake in, and since we were walking on snow and ice for at least part of the treks, I'm counting the adventures as "hikes" for the purposes of keeping this blog series going. ;)
14 January 2021: Old Highway to Frozen Reservoir (Loop)
We discovered a big swath of ice was smooth and slick (instead of snow-covered and grippy) and the kids had a blast slipping and sliding. |
Yes, she's wearing pajamas. Pretty much every day is pajama day around here and I just don't fight it, even when we go out in "public". |
Incidentally, this is the only day I can remember Sam wearing jeans in a month! |
These abandoned ice-fishing holes were so clear and dark, it looked like we might fall through - but they were frozen solid! So eery. |
Such a beautiful bluebird day. |
See the swath the kids were loving? |
We climbed up the "secret beach" cliffs and came back on the trail, so I guess this really was a hike after all. ;) |
