Pumpkin Party in Providence Weekend

After Gregg finished work on Friday, October 26th, we hopped in the car (with all our sleepover stuff) for a weekend of fun in Cache Valley with the Elwoods.  First up was dinner and pumpkin carving in the garage.  Cal and Sam thought it was great fun to draw faces and scoop guts and watch the candle make their jack-o'-lanterns come alive.

A smile or a grimace?

He wanted a "straight line" mouth and the ears were his idea,
too.

She wanted hers to be scary!

I think they look the same!  haha

Cal added ears to hers after seeing Sam's.

Cousins!

The neighbor across the street goes all out with the decorations
(for every holiday!) so we walked over to get a closer look.

Final products.

We stayed over (both Cal and Sam on the couch bed this time - they were so excited! - because Ev and Bradley stayed over, too, and they were camped out upstairs) so we could watch the pumpkin launching event at Elk Ridge Park with trebuchets made by mechanical engineering students. (We did this a couple of years ago and loved it, and since the weather was nice, we thought it would be fun to repeat.)

Our other intent for the day was to watch the Aggies.  They're on fire this year, and the fact that the weather was stellar and my mom ended up with free tickets, we made sure it happened.  Swaze and his friend Michelle sat with us, and Nate and Evy came by, too.  Sam got bored after the first quarter, so we made the rounds visiting friends and family scattered through the stadium (Ky Ky and Michael and some of his family in their season ticket seats, Great Grandpa and Grandma Elwood and my uncle Bryan a couple sections over from us, and my other uncles Dennis and Dale plus Macie, Emory and Nikie a few rows up from them - it was like a family reunion!).  Luckily the Ags scored 52 points in the first half (to the 5 scored by New Mexico), so we didn't feel too bad leaving shortly into the the 3rd quarter.  We stopped at Maddox on the way home (yum! twice in the span of a week and a half? lucky!) and called it a night.

Lots of pancake helpers for Grandma Saturday
morning.

Some park time scootering before the pumpkin
toss.

A beautiful day for launching pumpkins at unsuspecting hay
bales and old cars.

Heather with Bradly and Gracie running back
from the "2 and under" candy pumpkin launch.

What a day for football (and an apple!)

Ev and Cal and Sam had fun burrowing under our legs the
whole time - who knows?

Gotta love marching band half time shows.

What a backdrop for dinner, eh?
