Our Thankful Turkey Feathers #givethanks

One of my favorite traditions is our November Thankful Turkey where we each say what we are grateful for every day leading up to Thanksgiving (usually I keep it going till the last day of November, but this year we had a Christmas tree competing for space so we ended it early). I love that we can slow down and express gratitude for the big and small blessings we see every day, so when President Nelson issued his #givethanks challenge in his special message of hope and healing I was nodding right along. I absolutely believe gratitude can help us be happy, even in hard/weird/stressful/pandemic/election 2020 years.

We were on the road for the first week of November,
so we improvised with a sketch of our thankful turkey
in my notebook I kept in my purse on our trip.

When we got home, we transferred our thankfuls onto
feathers to hang on the wall with the turkey. (You'll see
that this year is the year of the creative turkey tail. And you'll
also see home church streaming on the TV - something I'm
thankful for, but I don't think I ever mentioned on the feathers.)

Another Sunday, another Thankful Turkey
photo-op. (They just looked so nice and clean
and dressed, I had to document. ;)

So, without further ado . . . here are our lists (in no particular order, though looking back I can tell which days some of the items were added based on what was happening in our life each day during the month, and that is a kind of fun time capsule element that I love about this tradition).

to see him trying to write and spell!

I love to look back on turkeys of yore, so I compiled the links here for easy clicking, if you want to check them out too: 201920182017201620152014.
