Thanksgiving at Home

Thanksgiving during a pandemic means we stayed home and did things a little differently. A weird year = new traditions that may or may not stick around next year, but we figured why not have a little fun with the weirdness? To start off: pie for breakfast!

We figured if pie was an option, then ice
cream might as well be, too. "Sometimes you
just gotta live a little" is Gregg's famous saying.

Nate sent this pic to our family group text string of
him and Bradley having street tacos for their
Thanksgiving breakfast. Weirdness runs in the family. ;)

While our turkey was cooking, we took advantage of the sunny (but really quite chilly) weather to play a round of disc golf as a family up at the Wolf Creek course.

Wandering around the hills of the course got our blood going and we warmed up nicely in time to head back home and finish up our meal preparations.

Lots of deliciousness going on here.

And at last it was time to eat!

We were happy to see our very 2020-esque
toilet paper roll turkeys gracing the tables of
the grandparents in Providence . . .

. . . and West Haven.

And roughly 15 minutes later we were all stuffed! Ha. All that work for such a short time at the table. Oh well. We left things out to graze on for the next couple of hours. And we sat down to read (I don't remember ever reading an entire book (let alone two) on Thanksgiving before!) and watch some football and basketball (the Aggies were playing both sports on the same day at basically the same time on National TV - remember how weird this year is?).

(It helps that the two books I read cover to
cover in one day happened to be graphic novels
since they're so speedy to read.)
Loved this follow up to the the fantastic
New Kid.

I never read the Baby-Sitters Club books
as a kid (though I did like the Baby-Sitters
Little Sister spin off series for younger readers)
but when I saw there was a graphic novel series
based on the novels, and after watching the preview
for the show on Netflix, I decided to check it out.
Fun, quick read and I can tell why it's been popular
for so long!

We finished off the day with another round of leftovers and more pie. Any day that starts and ends with pie? I'm thankful for that!
