Like I mentioned on the Thanksgiving post, we went tree hunting the day before Thanksgiving with the hopes of having more of the mountains to ourselves compared to last year when we went on the day after and everyone and their dog was out in the woods. We did see a few tree hunters, but we were able to find a spot all our own and enjoyed a pretty quiet afternoon in the forest near Christmas Meadows. It was just snowy enough to make it feel Christmasy, but not make it treacherous driving or hiking. It even flurried on us while we were hiking and driving out toward the Uintas, which was magical.
Oh man, this view! It's my fave, any season. |
The pic does no justice to the beauty of this color palette. I was in love with the yellows and reds and blues and grays and whites. So pretty! |
We made our traditional stop in Evanston at Wendy's after we snagged our tree. Since we could see the restaurant was empty (except for the workers) we opted to eat our nuggets and JBCs inside (!) which felt almost normal, even though it's been so long since we've done such a thing. The drive home was simply gorgeous with the sky lighting up brilliantly near Mountain Green. It was the perfect end to a lovely day.
It's beginning to look a bit like Christmas around here! (And it smells pretty dang good, too!)
I was okay with getting a tree before Thanksgiving as long as we didn't decorate it till after, so we hauled it in and set it up in its corner by the doors, but then it sat for a couple of days until Friday when we dolled it up.
I love this creation by the kids. |
