Stopping to Smell the Roses

Quite literally, actually.  We decided to hit up another Arts in the Parks day at Lorin Farr park since last year when we went to our first one, it was on a Wednesday and we had the same drumming and same crafts as we did this week when we went.  I thought Thursday's theme of storytelling sounded fun, so we headed to Ogden at about 10:30.  We had about a half hour to spare before the lunch ladies started serving free lunch at the park, so we stopped by the Ogden Botanical Gardens for a few minutes to check out the roses (they weren't blooming when we went last year with Heather and Grace, but they were when we went with Treasa and Charleigh and Prestin, which, sidenote, I hadn't even remembered that we saw the beautiful roses then until I looked back at this old post.  Thank heavens for blogs!)  The roses were stunning!  I couldn't help myself and took a bazillion pictures.  And I think Callie smelled every single one.  She said, "Mom, you be the picture taker and I'll be the smeller!"  And she did a great job with that.  We also enjoyed the poppies and irises and other flowers and colors.  We even saw a couple of swallowtail butterflies enjoying the gardens, too.  It was a wonderful pit stop on our way to lunch and art.

So many unique colors!

This one looked so soft, you just couldn't help
but touch it.

I really loved these - I've never really seen this
kind before.

Matchy matchy pink squared!

I loved this one - the color and shape of petals
reminds me of a ranunculus or something.  I think
it's gorgeous!

Reminded us of tie-dye.

Awww.

Another with unique petals that I loved.

Her favorite colors!

On to the rest of the gardens - they were quite lovely, too.

I love poppies!  (Have I said that before? ha!)

These irises were so nice.

I spy a butterfly!
