We spent a glorious weekend at Telluride (technically we stayed in the Town of Mountain Village, which is just over the ridge from the town of Telluride but is where the resort is) from Oct 3rd through 6th. Basically, it was amazing timing on our part to see the leaves at their brightest and the snow at its whitest. We intentionally kept this trip low-key as far as site-seeing goes, mostly just enjoying the view from the windows in our condo and occasionally jaunting out for a cool walk or a ride on the gondola. Leaves, family, snow, random junk food (think corn dogs and papa murphy's pizza and these delicious scarecrow bars) and General Conference . . . this weekend was practically perfect in every way.
And now I'll shut up and let the pictures do (most of) the talking:
Friday morning we woke up to this. (Taken from our window.) |
Gregg's favorite sight in the world. |
Cal liked the stroller for a while, but after the long car ride, she really would rather not get back in that car seat thankyouverymuch. |
Again, from the window - can you blame us for just staring at this view all day? |
The front carrier was much more to Callie's liking. It was so fun to watch her look around, wave her mittened hands, kick her little legs, and squeal in delight as we wandered around. |
Oooh, first time in a gondola or "box" as Gregg called it. |
First view of Telluride. A-maze-ing! |
Another jaunt around the village on Saturday morning. Already the leaves were losing their vibrance, but the clear blue sky more than made up for it in my book. |
The Palmyra, where we stayed. Our condo had the open curtains on the windows in the center of this photo. |
Fun in the elevator. |
One more from the window. This tree seriously glowed. |
Visiting Bridal Veil Falls. We bumped into Gregg's friend, Joel, who kindly snapped a family photo for us. |
Looking back towards Telluride from the falls. |
We took "the long way" home via this scenic byway. |
This spot by the river made a perfect lunchtime stop for all of us. (And yes, I did need that cover because there actually were other people around.) Not a bad view to nurse a baby to, if you ask me. |
Um, no words for how gorgeous this place is! I'm stunned! And super inspired to come here at the same time of year someday!
ReplyDeleteIt was amazing. We just kept looking around saying, "Wow! That is so beautiful!" Over and over and over. There isn't a bad view there. When you come, I'd love to tag along. I'll definitely be going back there someday. :)
