Photos from Phones - September 2019 Round Up

Remember September?  We love this month!  This year it started out feeling much like summer and stayed toasty warm for most of the month.  Finally, about 3/4 of the way through, the leaves started changing and the temps started dropping and we felt like we were in fall at last!  Here's what we were up to:

9.1.19
(spiffed up in their Sunday best)

9.1.19
(it was a bit sunny out that morning)

9.1.19
(more squinty eyed goodness)

9.1.19
(Gregg made us a fire and we sat around telling our favorite made
up jokes)

bonus video!

9.1.19
(a gregg original)

9.3.19
(after a long morning of errands (tires, walmart,
DI, winco) he was plum tuckered out by the
time we pulled in the garage)

9.3.19
(I liked these ones this week)

9.4.19
(makin' his own mac 'n' cheese - he loves to help
in the kitchen!)

9.4.19
(we had blueberry muffins for breakfast and they looked so pretty
I had to take some pics of them at 3:00 pm since they were still
sitting out on my counter)

9.4.19
(they're yummy! and I even blogged the recipe!)

9.4.19
(Cal was helping Sam read some BOB books from the library)

9.4.19
(Sam was getting so excited when he actually got a word; Cal
was getting a little frustrated that he wasn't getting every word,
but this set wasn't even designed for sounding out every word,
it's more of a read aloud pre-reading thing, but it was easy for
her so she thought it should be easy for him.  All that happened
after the pic, though haha)

9.5.19
(this was the absolute weirdest bread project I've ever tried!
That blob in the pot on the stove has to fit in that mini loaf pan
somehow!)

9.5.19
(and that one!  heaven help me figure out how to get it back
into the regular loaf pan sitting there waiting.  oh my!)

9.5.19
(super kitchen helper Sam!)

9.5.19
(it ain't pretty, that's fo' sho!)

9.5.19
(but look!  Somehow, it magically transformed
into the yummiest, chewiest bagel bread and all
of a sudden I looked like a kitchen rockstar!)

9.5.19
(it was perfect for marv 'n' joes!)

9.6.19
(these lovelies on our walk home make me happy)

9.6.19
(prepping for some canning!)

9.6.19
(an heirloom recipe - it's so yummy!)

9.7.19
(I knew it was going to be early, but I wanted
to see if we could spot any red salmon at
Porcupine reservoir and this was our only
open Saturday in September to try it, so we did.
And we only saw a handful of fish, but we did
see this odd pelican, just sitting there in the
stream.)

9.7.19

9.7.19

9.7.19
(can you see 'em?  There are like two red Salmon
to the right of the log)

9.7.19
(at least it wasn't a total bust!)

9.7.19
(but this fellow is not looking good at all.  no wonder he's just
sitting there!)

9.7.19

9.7.19
(my mom said we could pick tomatoes and cukes and peppers
and zukes to bring home for canning - Cal and I picked and picked
and picked!)

9.7.19
(Sam napped in the napping bed)

9.7.19
(and then we went to our first Aggie football
game of the season - don't mind Sam, he just
didn't want to have his picture taken)

9.7.19
(ha!)

9.7.19
(I guess this is the best we can do)

9.9.19
(relish time!  I was using my mom's cukes
and peppers, my great-grandma Elwood's food
grinder loaned to me by my grandma, and making
my great-grandma Thornley's relish recipe,
with a little help from my son.  Talk about family
history relish making!!)

9.9.19
(we took a break from the relishing for a trip to the library to
return these (and others) and replenish our stash)

9.9.19
(boiling away)

9.9.19
(now with all the good stuff added!
Sam said, "I love the smell of relish!  I want to
taste it on a hot dog!"  So we did.)

9.9.19
(success!)

9.9.19
(now it's tomato time!)

9.9.19

9.9.19
(first batch done and they all sealed!)

9.9.19
(but this one spurted out a bunch of the liquid
when I tried to take it out of the pot - weird!)

9.9.19
(the monster zucchinis from Grandma's garden
became zucchini boats)

9.9.19
(that yellow one is actually a cucumber!  sheesh!
and we never actually floated them this year because
it got too late Monday night and then it got cold!)

9.9.19

9.9.19

9.9.19
(I love how the light catches on the lids and reflects on the walls
like, ta da!!)

9.12.19
(visiting the fire truck at the Open Market
one evening - we went to hear Rocky and Kyle
(the Rocky in that group is my OB who delivered
Sam) and it was fun to ride our bikes as a family
there)

9.14.19
(triceratops birthday cake? check!)

9.14.19
(bedtime stories and snuggles time)

9.15.19
(Gregg went to VT for work and sent this for Sam since
Sam loves Delta planes)

9.15.19
(we finished this just as we pulled into
the airport to drop off Gregg - talk about
perfect timing!)

9.16.19
(I stayed up way too late to read this one - I liked
the style and the writing and the pacing, but I don't
really love some of the story and the choices the
characters made)

9.16.19
(we loved this one)

9.17.19
(misty moisty morning in VT)

9.17.19
(as seen on Gregg's walk to work in VT)

9.17.19
(don't be fooled - this is only half the tree
at the park, the red half that always turns before
anything else)

9.18.19
(Cal and I spent a lovely early-out afternoon
together in the hammock with a book or two)

9.18.19
(Gregg hiked to this pond after work one day in VT)

9.18.19
(Stowe fall views)

9.19.19
(Gregg's airport breakfast of Champions in
Atlanta on his way home)

9.19.19
(airport breakfast views)

bonus video!

9.19.19

9.20.19
(some great books to go along with the Weber
Reads
 theme this year of Water)

9.20.19
(I think Callie and I have read every book about apples in the
library system, but these are some faves that we had to reread
this year because September means apples to me)

9.20.19
(after our pizza and a movie we looked out the
window to see the brightest double rainbow
ever!)

9.20.19
(it was spectacular!)

9.20.19

9.20.19
(and then the rain stopped so we bundled up (it was chilly!)
and headed out for a bike ride/walk around the loop since
we had been cooped up inside all day on this rainy, rainy
Friday)

9.20.19

9.21.19
(we met up with some of the Gallagher clan in Salt Lake for a
birthday picnic to celebrate Grandpa Gallagher's 91st birthday)

9.21.19
(it's always great to get together with these folks)

9.21.19
(when we got home from the party, we found
Sam's gift from Heather and Scott (that had
been sitting on our porch since Tuesday - oops!))

9.22.19
(Callie has been looking forward to fall arriving so she made
this poster and had everyone in the family write on a leaf or two
their favorite things about fall. Our list includes: school, the cool
air, snow on the mountains, hiking, football, apple cider and apple
pie, and Thomas the Train)

9.23.19
(Sam and Cal are in LOVE with the legos
he got for his birthday)

9.23.19
(happy first day of fall!  I finally got my mantel decorated!)

9.23.19
(Sam and I wandered on to the cemetery after dropping off our
water bill payment and we found some friends on the other side
of the fence)

9.23.19
(the meadow view cemetery certainly has a lovely view!)

9.23.19
(leftover lunch of champions - chicken and veggie curry - yum!)

9.23.19
(we broke out the play doh toys this afternoon and they were
a huge hit!)

9.23.19

9.23.19
(always standing up on the pedals these days)

9.23.19
(the homeward-bound after school bike brigade)

9.23.19
(play doh heaven!)

9.25.19
(a few faves from the library)

9.25.19
(I was excited to see a chapter book series based on some favorite
sciencey picture books that we have loved - Cal loved this one!)

9.25.19
(date night at the RioT)

9.25.19
(my favorite part of coming to RSL games is the cloud show!)

9.25.19
(it just got better and better during the national anthem)

9.25.19
(can't stop!)

9.26.19
(we had a fun morning bouncing with cousins Evy and Bradley
(and I got to snuggle Maggie))

9.26.19
(lunchtime!)

9.26.19
(in the afternoon we got to play with Grace at gram's house -
bring out the playdoh!)

9.27.19
(I loved this one)

9.27.19
(guess what we're making?!)

9.28.19
(she's discovered the joys of Scrabble and begged
us all weekend to sit down and play)

9.28.19
(rainy day road trip through East Canyon on our way to Heber
to help H&T move)

9.28.19
(lunchtime asian-style at the Olsen's new casa)

9.29.19
(finished this and think we're doing a pretty good
job of raising "wild children" (kids who love
nature and being outside) and I was happy to note
that we do a lot of his suggestions without even
realizing it - getting outside as a family often,
reading books with nature elements/stories, letting
kids play with sticks and dirt and other "loose ends".
There were lots of other good ideas about sit spots
and story of the day and coyote mentoring that I
liked and will try, too.)

9.30.19
(finished this fun read aloud that both Cal and Sam
liked)

9.30.19
(I don't know why I've forgotten this gem that is
a perfect Halloween-time read!)
