Adventuring {October Hikes}

October hiking was lovely, if not as prolific as I would have enjoyed (and not all are posted here - we had a hike in the Tetons, one in Providence Canyon over fall break, and one on Antelope Island with Grandpa and Grandma Blanchard (and Aggie!)).  But what we did have was golden and glorious.  Here's where we went:

1 October 2018: Art Nord Trailhead Loop back down Old Snowbasin Road.  The leaves were peaking on this Monday Night Hike, and we took advantage of the vistas to snap a family picture on timer mode instead of at arms length (that's fancy for us!).

Oh I love these boys.

8 Oct 2018: The No-Name Trail above the Old Highway Beach.  A lovely Monday Night Hike, even if it was rather chilly.  The lake level is still getting lower!  It was fun to see it from above.  And the evening light and clouds were stunning!

That sand bar is the old highway roadbed that we like to
walk on.

These sandbars are something else, sort of around a bend
from the road above.

21 Oct 2018: Perception Park Campground.  Another deserted campground exploration with the bikes on a Sunday afternoon.  This one was great because it had paved paths circling the perimeter, with nice benches along the river.  AND it had two playgrounds!  They were old old and splintery and falling apart, but they were fun to play on anyway!

So fun to ride through crunchy leaves!

22 October 2018: Middle Fork.  We haven't been here for a while!  It's always a nice, close, easy and beautiful little walk, and the wide spot in the stream at the "end" was extra wide today so that was extra fun for splashing and squishy moss.

The poses are killing me!

26 October 2018: North Arm Trailhead. Cal didn't have school and Sam took an early (ish) nap, so we had an hour or so to fill before heading to Providence to carve pumpkins with the Elwoods.  We walked down to "our trail" to check on the progress with the bridge.  There were actually people working there and we could see through the trees that a big, nice, metal bridge is in place across the riverbed!  Hooray!  We ended up hiking on the trail that goes straight past the first bridge and wanders through the meadows of teasel till we got to a good splashing spot (of course).  Everything was so golden and gorgeous that afternoon!

Some longhorn cattle in the field by the bike path on the way
home.  They're new!
