Vermont 2023 {Time with the Farrers}

6 October 2023 - On Friday the Farrers put us to work (after they fed us a hearty breakfast!) on a few finishing touches in the guest barn, the most exciting of which was installing the electrical sockets and lights upstairs in the bedroom! Laurel and Bret were so patient in teaching all of us, but particularly the kids, how to do that. Then we helped Bret lay the laminate flooring upstairs. And then we moved in! We brought their guest bed frame and mattress, plus two big air mattresses that the kids loved sleeping on. We brought the couch and coffee table for the living space downstairs, plus a table and lamps for by the bed. It was so cozy! We slept out there that night after pizza and a movie. The only thing we missed was the bathroom, but we're happy glamping!

Sam loved throwing the extra cardboard out the
window and try to hit the bed of the truck down
below.

Last board!

Sam was happy when Cohen got home from school so they
could play video games together.

And lightsaber battles, too!

Snug as four bugs!

7 October 2023 - We had a fun day exploring some favorite spots of the Farrers on Saturday. First they took us to Enders Falls (which of course the kids loved, just because of the Minecraft-ish name!). It was a bit drizzly, but such a lovely spot.

Mushrooms! (There were so many great ones here!)

It just kept getting better and better!

Amazing, right?!!

Some of the unusual leaves I picked up on our walk.
I mean, I couldn't even imagine a leaf like the multi-colored
stripey one! So cool!

We came back and had lunch and hung out and I went to Mass to get the oil changed in our car. And then later we all went on another adventure: to the library! Ha! But first we stopped at The Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge in Simsbury, which unfortunately was empty of flowers since they were about to start doing some renovations. But the pictures and descriptions of it sound cool.

A cool dollhouse display in the kids room in the Simsbury
Library.

Such a fun space!

I loved this idea of pairing a picture book
and a nonfiction book in a bundle to check out
together.

Some good recommendations on this list!

More to add to my TBR.

Such a cool idea! You can pick up your holds
here 24/7!

8 October 2023 - On Sunday morning, we woke up, ate breakfast, visited / played a bit, packed up and then hit the road heading south to Washington, DC. It was such a great weekend with the fam! We'll be back!

Sam's air mattress was losing a bit of air so he was
sleeping pretty slanted, but amazingly he never fell off!

Melia teasing Luna on the mantel.

One last look at the barn. It will be such
a great guest space when it's all finished up.
