Vermont 2023 {Jay Brook, Ullr's Woods, Stowe School Day}

24 September 2023 - A relaxing Sunday close to "home". We fit in a few games of Cover Your Assets, a walk around the neighborhood, a visit to Jay Brook down the street, and a stroll through Ullr's Woods around zoom church and family facetimes.

Cal had to documenter her $900,000+
dominating win this morning!

The view from (roughly) our condo last time we were here.

Jay Brook is such a pretty spot that isn't even marked
on the road. We discovered it our first time here just
by parking in a little pullout off the highway and then
walking about twelve steps into the trees. We love this spot!

We sat on a rock while the kids played and built and
pretended and watched the falls. I spotted a little brown
fish jumping out of the water right by the falls, trying
to go up!

Rock skippers.

Our fave little cabin shed thing in Ullr's Woods, which is
a cross-country ski trail at Jay Peak. Gregg loves its shape.

25 September 2023 - Monday, Monday. We did traveling school. We started with art at home while Gregg did some morning work, then we all went to Stowe with him and dropped him off at work while we did math at a lovely parking spot (the same parking spot we ate lunch at when we walked on Quiet Path). Then we went to the library (of course!), ate lunch at the park by the elementary school behind the library, and explored in the Stowe Mercantile Store (where we found some fun goodies that we didn't buy, but enjoyed looking at anyway, including the bookstore section full of great books!).

Just documenting how many pangrams were
possible in yesterday's spelling bee! Sheesh!

We started this project the week before by drawing leaves
and then tracing them with glue. They needed to dry, so when
art day came around again we had a relatively quick little project
to complete with chalk pastels.

Too messy to bring home, so a pic will have
to do.

Back of the car math time.

Sam and I worked at the picnic table.

We drive past a big, fancy rock wall archy
thing every time we drive to Stowe, so when we
spotted a mini version at the elementary school,
I made them pose for me so we can remember
how cool they (the arches, and the kids!) are.

The sign on this bear's shirt says "hug me"
so Sam obliged.

Cal found this adorable log pillow.

When Gregg was done with his meetings, we picked him back up and drove to Waterbury to meet up with his former co-worker but still friend Chris and play a round of disc golf at Center Chains. That was fun! On our way back to Jay, we stopped at Price Chopper in Morrisville to pick up a few groceries for our road trip to Maine the next day. (Side note: Price Chopper is NOT an accurate name for that grocery store! It was perhaps the most expensive little stop for a few groceries that I have ever experienced!! I thought Shaw's in Stowe and Shaw's in Waterbury were too pricey, so we thought we'd try this spot up the road a few miles. Nope. Not doing that again!)
