Vermont 2023 {Jay Peak Hike}

23 September 2023 - One of the things I really wanted to do while we were in Vermont was to hike to the top of Jay Peak. We've been to the top a couple of times before by tram, and Gregg had hiked to the top once in a previous visit when he was hiking to the top of every lift at the resort, but this time we all hiked to the top. From our doortstep! Round trip it was about 5 miles and 2100 feet of elevation gain. We were feeling it for a couple days after, but the kids were champs!

Up Stateside Road we go.

Looking fine this Saturday morning!

The leaves are getting brighter!

Cute little lift shack.

Leaves!

Leaves! (With Gregg's camera = wowza!)

About halfway - getting higher, but looking
hazier.

This is the path and it has to be mowed!
We aren't in Utah anymore, that's for dang sure.

Even the mosses and lichens turn colors!

Bridge resting point (in the shade before
we turn and are in full sun for a while).

I love mountain ash berries in the fall!

Fuzzy wuzzy was a caterpillar.

This stretch was SO steep, so we rested a lot
at the flat spots that were made in the road
for water to drain down the mountain.
We crossed 100 (not an exaggeration!)
of these water diversion places on our hike!

Fuzzy wuzzy number 2! Isn't it cute?!

Pose with a tram #2.

Seriously psychedelic mossy licheny stuff!

Almost to there - a pit stop at the top of this lift that
I don't remember the name of.

Last bit! I see the tram haus!

Woo! Views for days. We can see into Canada from here!

Made it!

Cal likes to read these markers and Sam likes
to stand on them and there are an amazing number
of arguments about that on every hike we do.

Going down from the tippy tippy top to
use the restroom in the tram haus.

Hazy views toward Montgomery.

I don't even know. Ha.

School photos shoot.

Gregg's camera is better, for sure.

We made it a loop by going down a black
diamond run.

It was SO steep!!

That trail over yonder is one we've hiked
twice before by starting on the Long Trail
and then going to the top of the Jet lift.

Aww, cute posers.

I just love this stuff!

Almost back to Stateside! And about time -
we're going loopy!

Here's the spot we had our family photo
taken on our first trip to Jay in 2020.

Headed back down Hemlock Hill Road.

Parking lot views from our condo.
