Photos from Phones - September 2017 Round Up

My goodness.  Another month gone.  September was full of fun and blog posts (that you may have already seen, but if not, here's a recap: we went to a funeral, floated zucchini boats, camped at Red Canyon, celebrated Sam's birthday, picked apples and played some disc golf, saw the salmon run, got away to Colorado, hiked in the leaves, and visited Sun Valley over Conference weekend).  Whew!  And between all of that?  Yet another post to fill in the gaps:

9.1.17
(that's a big ol' ugly cat face spider in our garage
corner.  I call her Charlotte because her web
is beautiful.  We've seen her (or her ancestors)
before.

9.1.17
(fun at the library park with our pal, Charlie)

9.1.17
(Sam and Charlie are a couple months apart
and are quite the cute little friends.  Charlie
calls Sam "Ham" and I love it.)

9.1.17
(moved inside the library to continue the playtime)

9.3.17
(first apple pie of the season!)

9.3.17
(this is what the kids were doing while we were skyping with
Gregg's family one Sunday evening)

9.3.17
(insert angry mom sounds here - ack!  this scene stresses me out)

9.4.17?
(another view of the beast)

9.6.17
(first day of music makers wiped him right out)

9.6.17
(only the best deck lunch of all time)

9.6.17
(case lot shenanigans)

9.6.17
(pro tip: take your bulky stroller, blanket, box
of randomness out of the back of your car before
you try to load it with a year's supply of canned
goods and toilet paper)

9.12.17
(when Callie June requests making cookies for Mom 'n'
Cal time - I always say yes!)

9.12.17
(noticed a few super weird bumps on leaves as
we walked to the park.  thanks to my on-call
plant pathologist and ID expert, I learned that
they are gall aphids.  Those bumps on the stem
are full of little aphid larvae.  eew.)

9.12.17
(she loves to cut up all the ads/coupons/junk mail
magazines that come in the mail.  I love the
fine motor skill practice.  Win win.  Until you notice
the floor.  Yes, that's her hair.  And she did it on
purpose!)

9.13.17
(we played hookie from music makers due to
some snotty noses and raspy voices and instead
walked down to the lake to splash rocks)

9.13.17

9.13.17
(and to build "seaweed forts")

9.13.17

9.13.17
(being outside is good for the soul)

9.13.17
(they requested muffin tin lunch and then promptly ate it all!
winning!)

9.13.17
(late summer harvest dinner in a pot - so delicious!)

9.14.17
(it's happening!)

9.14.17
(remember our mice problem?  it got worse.
we saw one on the counter behind the toaster.
figured it got up there by climbing up behind
and over to the countertop.  pulled out the stove
and found a gap in the sheetrock around an outlet
box (or something?)  probably entering the kitchen
from here! blocked hole with a license plate from
the garage and duct tape.  finally caught that last
rascally mouse.  haven't seen any more since.
KNOCK ON WOOD!)

9.15.17
(well isn't that adorable?!)

9.15.17
(baking bucket list item: cinnamon raisin swirl bread!
I used a mix of recipes from Mel and America's Test Kitchen
and then I added my own alterations on top of that.  It's a wonder
it even turned out!)

9.15.17
(coming along nicely)

9.15.17
(gettin' all fancy now)

9.15.17
(ready to rise)

9.15.17
(baked!)

9.15.17
(devoured!)

9.20.17
(a fun library read - inspired by my mom's monarch butterfly
metamorphosis in her classroom)

9.20.17
(activity days hair styling activity)

9.20.17
(they loved it)

9.20.17
(I even got to be a practice mannequin head
for 10 year old Aeva)

9.20.17
(her first french braid!  not too shabby, I say)

9.25.17
(of all the apple books we read from the library
this month - and we read a TON (I think I checked
out 50+ in one trip, and we added more to it on
other visits, too - Cal LOVES them) - I think
this one was my fave.)

9.25.17
(look at those long legs!)

9.25.17
(he was loving it, it's just harder to catch his
smiles on the swing)

9.25.17
(banana snacks on the floor)

9.25.17
(I don't know - I just go with it)

9.25.17
(first Monday Night Hike in a while - the light
was fantastic on the Middlefork Trail)

9.25.17

9.25.17

9.25.17

9.25.17

9.25.17

9.25.17

9.26.17
(helpers - and I know this looks almost identical
to the one below, but Sam's smile was too good
to not share)

9.26.17
(Cal cut all the sausage slices by herself! "and
no fingers chopped off!")

9.26.17
(no real recipe here - just throw stuff you like/have
(here: sausage, sweet potato, zucchini, onion, cauliflower)
on a pan and drizzle with oil and spices.
roast at 400 ish for a while till it's done.  Yum)

9.26.17
(daily strollin' and stridin')

9.26.17
(we had some awesome park afternoons this week)

9.26.17
(cool clouds)

9.26.17
(after dinner disc golf at the north fork
environmental center)

9.26.17
(hard to tell, but it was a lovely evening)

9.26.17
(moose!  you can't even see them unless you zoom,
but we saw THREE MOOSE, not too far from
where our discs landed.  Needless to say, this was
the last hole we played that evening.)

9.26.17
(this was a quick Newberry read, and I especially liked
this poem)

9.28.17
(conference prep - ready to rise)

9.28.17
(writing letters to grandma and grandpa - and
actually doing the writing! she dictated and I
spelled and she wrote and it was one of those
heart bursting mommy moments for me)

9.28.17
(baked!  pumpkin cinnamon rolls for the win - these may
be the best spirals I've ever made . . . and then I smothered
them in maple frosting so you couldn't even see them)
