Feels Like Fall

Saturday, September 16th was technically a week before the official autumnal equinox, but there were some serious fall vibes going on around our place that day regardless.  In the (super chilly - down in the 40s) morning we decided to harvest our crop of apples.  Callie has been patiently watching and checking and counting and observing our little apple tree of apples, waiting for picking day to come.  She was thrilled to get to pick may of them herself, climbing the ladder to reach the branches, and sitting on Dad's shoulders when they were too high.  Sam got in on the action by helping to hold the bag.  We got something like a dozen (maybe a couple more) small, some wormy, apples that will be made into pie one of these days.  Hopefully soon.

Just look at those grins.  Pure joy right there.

Snagging the highest ones.

That afternoon, after Sam's good, long nap, we grabbed our frisbees and drove to Snowbasin for a (chilly, thanks to the breeze) game of disc golf.  The leaves were just starting to change up in the hills, and Sam's orange jacket and disc combo really looked rather fallish.  We only lost one disc.  For a few minutes.  Luckily, Gregg found it the kids and I played at the playground.  All these games later, and we still have our full collection.  Phew.

Cal is pointing to some cool little black rattly
seed pods we walked through between holes.
I found out later from Heather that they're called
cicer milkvetch.  (Now you know!)

Always collecting leaves.

The last basket is waaaaaaay down there at the bottom of the hill.
