Photos from Phones - July 2019 Round Up

Sum sum summatime!  That is July in a nutshell.  It finally feels like summer, which is a good thing.  I can't complain that we haven't really felt hot till mid July!  And sometimes it's good to feel hot so we can appreciate those cool summer evenings on the deck (getting eaten by mosquitos!).  We've had a good month of hiking, celebrating, reading, playing with friends, and exploring new places (those posts will be coming soon, just you wait!).

7.1.19
(we listened to the first four in this series on
audio and loved them, but there is no audiobook
for the rest of the series so we've been reading
them together out loud.  it's been so great!)

7.2.19
(I DO still have reeds! Gotta practice for the
Thornley Family band!)

7.2.19
(beach day (our first this season!) with friends!)

7.2.19
(I love where we live - have I said that before?)

7.2.19
(Christine brought this fun raft to paddle around in - the kids
loved it!)

7.2.19
(lunchtime on the "beach" - Zachy, Timmy, Callie and Sammy)

7.2.19

7.5.19
(my parents gave us kids a date night to see Newsies at the Ellen
Eccles Theater (plus babysitting all the grands!!) - somehow
Gregg and I missed the memo about this group shot (oops!)
but we had a fun evening!)

7.5.19
(all the kiddos with popcorn and jammies and
blankies and pillows watching Cars. be still my
heart!)

7.6.19
(for future reference - Callie is into these friendship bracelets
after spending an afternoon making them with Grandma)

7.6.19
(We're here for Lion Pups!)

7.6.19
(baseball game?  what baseball game?)

7.6.19
(we stayed to watch the blue sox for three innings
and saw four runs, so that was pretty good haha)

7.6.19

7.6.19
(by the statue of Coach Hansen at the ballpark
in Smithfield)

7.7.19
(our favorites this week)

7.8.19
(another one down - Cal has been reading the
diary entries at the beginning of each chapter
and I read the rest and it's been a lot of fun)

7.8.19
(we also finished up these in the car - we all really enjoyed
Gooney Bird)

7.8.19
(other recent audio book faves on libby)

7.8.19
(a stellar summer sunset that photos just can't do justice)

7.9.19
(a new hair style - and getting so long!)

7.9.19
(friend day! this is McKena)

7.9.19
(a few more good ones before we take them
back)

7.10.19
(another friend day! These are Moriah and Rachel)

7.10.19
(a rose tree?  nope - just a long, lonely rose
branch tangled in a tree)

7.11.19
(two baby deer didn't know what to make of Sam biking right
past them on the way to the park)

7.11.19
(we got really quite close to them)

7.11.19

7.11.19
(we're just flying through these!
The library didn't have a hard copy
of this one for some reason, so we
read it on the kindle app on my phone)

7.11.19
(hammock time reading with my girl)

7.12.19
(science in the park demo of elephant snot
and mentos in diet coke. the kids also got to
make slime and touch lots of cool things)

bonus video!

7.12.19

7.12.19
(finished the last one today. sniff. we have loved
this series)

7.12.19
(friday night pizza - it just looked extra good tongiht
so I had to snap a pic)

7.12.19
(stayed up past my bedtime (just a bit) to finish
this one tonight.  I really liked it.  The subtitle
says it all.  She's a great writer and storyteller.
But just be aware that there definitely is some
language.)
7.13.19
(brookies for my grandparents' 60th anniversary
party)

7.13.19
(some of the gang at the party - I sure am lucky
to have these amazing grandparents!)

7.15.19
(this week's faves from the library - we've been reading a lot
of Tomie dePaola and a lot about the moon landing - so much
good stuff!)

7.15.19
(a pre-library walk by the reservoir with the
Larsens had more rock throwing and stick splashing
than walking today, but it was lovely to hang out
in the shade by the lake)

7.15.19
(the library is under some major construction
and renovations outside (and inside, actually),
and the boys couldn't get enough of the digger
out the window)

7.16.19
(I love when they hang the big flag from the
white barn in the middle of Eden - makes my
patriotic heart smile, espcially on a beautiful
blue morning such as this)

7.18.19
(lovely weeds and wild flowers on another
walk by the reservoir with the Larsens)

7.18.19
(perfection!)

7.18.19
(Sam's helmet is also perfection!)

7.18.19
(looking back up toward the spring creek parking
area after our walk and rock splashing time)

7.18.19
(I checked this out on a whim (I didn't even open
it up at the library first!) and it was a win!  each page
is a cleverly told story problem and a cutely
illustrated picture that gives clues to help solve it
(if you need them).  Most of them Cal could solve
on her own and the others we worked out together
and it was a super fun way to do some math time
and reading time at the same time!)

bonus video!

7.19.19
(he had the cutest explanation for what it felt like when his
feet fall asleep.  I had to really probe him in the video (he had just told me
and I thought it was worth recording, so I made him repeat his description, which
of course wasn't nearly as cute as the first time) but I think you get the gist)

7.19.19
(read most of this with both kids, but finished with
Cal today just in time to take it back to the library
before our big trip - now we're ready for a pizza
and a movie night to watch the movie version!)

7.19.19
(evenings in Eden)

7.19.19
(research for NC)

{a big gap in the dates comes here because of our epic adventure
to North Carolina, which will surely take up at least 10 individual posts of
its own}

7.31.19
(I knew it would be sunflower season when we
got home from our trip, and sure enough they
were blooming along the road as I walked up the
street to my ministering sister to pick up our mail
that she had been tending for us)

7.31.19
(I also lucked out on a spectacular sky on my way home.
Just wait.  It gets a whole lot better!)

7.31.19
(It was pretty sassy looking east, too)

7.31.19
(what a welcome home!)

7.31.19

7.31.19
(back to the west (ish) - that barn is the one right behind our house)

7.31.19

7.31.19

7.31.19
(on the homeward stretch)
