OBX Blanchard Reunion {Day 1: DEN to ORF to OBX}

Our official Day 1 (Sunday, July 21st) started with breakfast in the hotel, an hour drive to Denver for Sacrament Meeting in the Highpoint Ward (the closest one to the airport), and dropping our car at the Parking Spot near the airport.  After we got through security we met up with the Wihongis at our gate (they were flying on the same plane to Norfolk, VA with us!).  We landed in Norfolk at about 7pm ET and met up with Grandpa and Grandma who got there an hour before us, plus Laurel and Bret and fam who came by to help haul luggage the rest of the way to our rental house in Corolla, NC.

By the time we got all our bags and rental cars and everyone situated, it was nearly dark.  We still had to drive a couple of hours to get to Corolla.  Ryan and Lea and the girls were there already and had dinner waiting for us when we arrived.  We ate, got settled, and crashed for the night.

Moving sidewalk shenanigans.

On the plane!

North Carolina, here we come!

Since we were flying on cousin Dray's b-day,
Grandma brought cupcakes for the cousins
to share in the airport/on the plane.

Wheelchair shenanigans - fun to see
the Farrer cousins for the first time
in a couple years!

The wheelchair was for Grandpa
since his feet weren't feeling
too well due to a bad gout flair
up, which, combined with some
intestinal trouble for Kim had caused
plenty of stress and rearranged plans
for them in the days leading up to
their departure.  We're so glad they
were feeling well enough to travel
on Sunday and spend the week with
everyone!

Happy birthday to Drayburger!

Girls room!  Callie was SO excited
to bunk with all the girl cousins
(Katie and Liz on the top bunk and
Melia on the other bottom bunk.
Though they all switched beds through
the week to give everyone a chance to
try out being up or down.)

Sam had high hopes of sleeping in
the boys room, but ended up on
a mattress on the floor in our room
(which was best for everyone involved,
I think).  Maybe next time!

Late night dishes crew!
