Lake My Day

While Megan was in town, one of the things she wanted to do was go camping.  We were invited to come along, but since we had just camped the weekend before, and we had a full week after, we decided to just join them for a day.  My parents and Mugs and Ky had a great spot in Sunrise Campground.  We found them Tuesday morning and went on a little hike to the overlook over Bear Lake.  Then we got ready for the lake and made our way down the hill to the beach behind the Garden City Park.  We staked out a spot with our canopy for shade and jumped right in the water.  The lake is high this year, so beach is in short supply, but we made do with the dirt shoreline and the shallow water.  The kids had a blast.  Heather and Terrell and Grace came up in the afternoon and played for a couple hours.  Then Michael arrived after work and we all headed to LaBeau's for dinner (and shakes, duh!).  Then we made one last stop at the overlook visitor's center to change back into our clothes/jammies and headed home.  Whew!  What a fun day!

Happy hikers and that beautiful blue lake beyond!

Beach life.

Sam napped in my arms wrapped in this towel
with only a small hole for his mouth and nose.
It's been a long time since I've held him while he
slept and it was kind of fun.

Cousins in the lake - there really were a lot more people around
us on the beach and in the water, but I got lucky with this shot
making it look like we were the only ones around.

Warming up and drying off.

She made us birthday pies out of the mud.
mmm!  Delish!

Sam and Grace played freight train in a giant hole they found
in the dirt.

Sam got a kick out of this giant shake cup
sign at LaBeau's.

Chow time!

It's a feast!  (I think the most popular item (meaning the thing
most ordered by our family) was a bacon burger.)
