Callie's Birthday Date

Grandma and Grandpa Blanchard have a fun tradition with their grandkids called Birthday Dates.  When you turn four years old, they take you on a little outing including a meal at a restaurant of your choice and an activity.  They didn't want to miss out on Callie's first birthday date even though they'd be on their mission on her actual birthday, so they decided to do it early, and May 1st was the day.  They picked Cal up a bit before noon and took her to lunch at Chick-fil-A.  She ate all her nuggets then played on the playground (which is why I think she chose this restaurant in the first place).  Then they were off to Kangaroo Zoo, a warehouse filled with bounce houses and slides.  What good sports Grandpa and Grandma are to watch her jump and bounce and slide for over an hour!  Then they brought her back home and we celebrated her "pretend birthday" with cupcakes and a candle and the Happy Birthday song.  I think she's all ready for the big day next month after this practice run!  Thanks for the date and the fun tradition, Grandma and Grandpa!  She's already planning what she wants to do next time.  :)

A big deal for her to try this slide - the first time we came, she
wasn't quite up for it.

I had to include this one because Sam cracks me up with his
helmet and water bottle and jacket combo.

Licking the candle - her favorite part.
