Happy New Year to Everyone at Your House

Last year, we tried to go see the New Year's Eve fireworks and torchlight parade at Nordic Valley.  We wanted to get there in time to see the show, but we didn't want to get there too early since Sam was still pretty tiny and it was really cold.  Long story short: we missed the whole thing!  So, this year, we decided to head up there a bit earlier.  The awesome part about this celebration is that it starts at 6:00 pm.  (Perfect for a family with little ones!)  We bundled up and headed out after our New Year's Eve "Appedinner" of taco plop, little smokies, and cheese ball (oh yeah - heathy eating right there!  ;).  We did have a little down time where Cal and Dad explored the magic carpet lift and bunny slope and we all wandered around the lodge for a few minutes.  Then the fireworks began and the skiiers started down the hill with their torches.  My favorite part?  The trumpet soloist playing auld lang syne and america the beautiful as the show went on.  (It was definitely something I've never heard/seen before, but he really was pretty good.)

After the show we hopped back in the car and went home for our "party".  Noisemakers, balloons, a few peppermint oreos and then beddy bye bye for the kids (and parents were not too far behind).  Awesome.  Happy 2017!

A little New Years Bonus, that only I will find interesting, but it is my blog, after all.  There's a website that looks at your instagram profile and compiles the nine most popular photos or videos that you posted during the year.  Below are our results:

My pics (and one video - that one of Sam learning to walk).
