Even though we could go on walks and bike rides on dry roads during January, we also had plenty of snow to play in. And snow in January makes us happy.
January 5th:
Not only did we have snow to play in, we also had plenty of snowy stories to read, too. That middle row are the faves of this bunch. |
A classic. I like this version best. |
January 6th:
Some backyard sledding on the giant stick pile. |
bonus videos!
Cutest. |
January 8th:
Our friends invited us over to their giant carved sledding track in their backyard. We had a blast. |
bonus video!
Sam was a little bit nervous about the sliding, but he was fairly content to just hang out on the snow mountain. |
Ha! |
There goes Treasa with Prestin. Charleigh on the top, and Sam and Cal just chillin'. |
Treasa, Prestin and Charleigh ... at the same time! |
Whoa nelly! |
All pile on Kim became a favorite way to slide. |
January 9th:
Heather and Gracie came to play at our house and while Sam napped, we sent Cal and Grace out to play by themselves. (Amazing!) |
January 12th:
Quite a bit of meltage happening these days. |
Still more snowy stories. I was surprised that we could find still more after reading so many. |
This one was fantastic! I loved learning more about Ezra Jack Keats, and as a bonus it was written in verse. So creative, so educational. Two thumbs up. |
January 13th:
I got out on a walk/hike by myself on a Saturday afternoon. It was lovely and delightful. |
My favorite poem from a collection of poems about winter. |
January 25th:
Hmmm . . . butterfly net and minnie slippers? One of these winters is not like last year . . . |
Flashback to last year on this very day. Holy moley. |
And then the snow started falling again! Cal wanted to be out there checking out crystals with her magnifying glass as soon as she saw the first flakes appear. |
Feeding horses sticks in a snowstorm. As you do. |
