Hikes (and Walks and Scoots) {February 2021}

Not too much actual hiking this month, but I'm gonna count a few glorious loop walks and a fabulous scooter excursion in my recap, just because.

3 February 2021: North Arm Trail to Overlook
I remember a lot of grumpiness at the start and middle of this hike, from both kids and mom, but we did have some happy moments in between, so it wasn't all terrible. Ha. A favorite trail anytime of year, and even when we're grumpy.

4 February 2021: Solo Loop Walk
I must say, it is nice having kids old enough to behave themselves by themselves (Gregg is home, of course, but he is in his office and they are in the living room) for 45 minutes to an hour while I sneak out to get some steps and catch up on a podcast (or audiobook - this month I've been listening to the Hound of the Baskervilles, which was a fun change of pace). The best walk days are the calm, bluebird sky days, which are starting to become more common again. Hooray for spring on its way!

Just look at those clouds!!

Ditto above. ;)

22 February 2021: Centennial Trail South from Parker Drive Trailhead to (almost) Riverdale Road
One Monday afternoon/evening we decided we needed to get out of the snow and move our bods, so we packed up the scooters and headed to Ogden. After snagging some Chick-fil-a sandwiches for dinner, we drove to the Parker Drive Trailhead and walked along the Centennial trail south till we almost reached the Redwood Road overpass. We figured we had gone far enough (according to google maps it was 1.3 miles!) and turned around there to head back to the car. What a great walk! The kids scootering speed was just enough to get our legs and lungs going. We found lots of fun little surprises along the way, too. Plenty of boardwalk sections, a leprechaun hideout in a hollow tree, a plethora of colorful painted birdhouses, and a rainbow rock snake (with a sign inviting anyone to add a painted rock and watch the snake grow!). So fun!

28 February 2021: (Another) Solo Neighborhood Walk About
The sunshine was calling to me on Sunday afternoon, so I snuck out again to soak it in. I love those blue skies!
