How could you not love that face? |
Six months. Half a year. Sheesh. It's true what they say about life with babies: the days (or nights, in our case) are l-o-n-g but the months (and I'll venture to guess the years, when we get to that point) just fly by.
Here's a little glimpse into our life with a six month old:
Callie's little personality is really starting to shine through. Her latest loves include peekaboo/hide and seek/"get 'em" - we can usually get quite a delightful round of giggles out of her when we play these games. The tireder she tends to be, the better the giggle fest. Her favorite toys are the ones that make noise (rattling, jingling, and especially crinkling) and the ones she can put in her mouth (which is, you guessed it, every one of them). She's become quite deft at handling her binkie and getting it into her mouth by herself, where she likes to chew and bite on it (teething, maybe?) just as often as she likes to leave it there to suck on. She also loves to be outside, especially if Dad is carrying her in the front pack (no more screaming now that she faces outwards). Doesn't matter if it's single digit temps and snow is sticking to her eyelashes, she's game for an outdoor adventure. Love that.
A little flair of the dramatic from our tiny tot. |
Callie's got skillz: she's sitting up, unsupported, for a few seconds at a time, and even longer with the boppy around her little waist. She officially rolled over by herself - from tummy to back to the left - a few times a week ago, but has since not been able to replicate her feat. It's not for lack of trying, though; she just seems to forget the order in which all her limbs and head should be working. It's fun to watch her practice and learn. She's very vocal, "saying" things like "mamamamamam" and "agggggggggies". She also sings and coos and squeals. She recently started scooting on her back by planting her feet on the floor, lifting her bum up and pushing backwards with her legs. Fairly decent means of locomotion, if you don't have anywhere to go.
She's a sporadic sleeper, giving us (well, her) a solid seven hour stretch of unbroken sleep one night and the next waking every two hours (or more often). You never can tell with Cal. She naps pretty well most days, though, which is really nice. And she really is a champ at falling asleep herself - those days of bouncing on the big red ball and rocking for hours on end are just a distant memory. Luckily, though, she is still willing to take a couple catnaps in my arms at church, which makes our time there a lot less stressful than it could be.
She's eating one meal of solids each day and loving it. (Her body seems to be tolerating the food better, too, though we still get some wake-ups in the night to pass a nice loud toot.) She hasn't refused anything we've offered her yet: rice cereal, baby oatmeal, banana squash, prunes, carrots, sweet potatoes. Soon we'll be moving onto some green veggies and fruits. (What colorful (size 2, as of today) diapers we have in store!)
The End (The cutest little reindeer rump you ever did see.) |

Darling, darling girl! I can't believe she is 6 months old already! We love her!
ReplyDeleteThe second collage, top-left corner is probably my favorite picture of her. What a mischievous look!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the pics and reading of her life.
