On Christmas Day in the Morning

Callie's first Christmas - and our first Christmas as parents - was a complete success and a whole lot of fun, I'd say.  We woke up with a happy baby around 7:15 am. I had been up with her around 5:15 for a feeding, and, full of the Christmas spirit, I guess, couldn't really get back to sleep.  Luckily Callie did sleep for those couple of hours - she hadn't quite figured out the excitement of Christmas morning.  Yet.

Happy baby, happy momma.

Clearly wrapping paper is only the best
invention EVER!

She's figuring out these rings are
pretty great chew toys.

(from the day after Christmas, when she really had time
to master the rings)

More paper to play with. . . .

reveals our little Obi-Wan-Callie.
"These are not the presents you're looking for."

"Helping" Dad open a gift.

Bird's-eye view of the loot and wrappings.

Cal is patiently waiting for her big gift -
the doorway jumper thing-a-ma-jig - to be assembled.

At last!

And now she's got it figured out.  Total hit!

She's bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bouncy,
fun, fun, fun, fun, fun,
The most wonderful thing
about Callie is:
She's the only one!

After present opening and ring-eating and doorway bouncing, Cal was quite pooped and ready for her morning nap.  While she napped, Mom and Dad feasted on some lovely Christmas sweet rolls (recipe here).

We had our traditional cinnamon-raisin
(and a few with walnuts).

And we tried something new with half the batch:
orange roll twists.  Amazing!
