Halloweening {Tricks and Treats}

Callie had been looking forward to wearing her costume for pretty much the whole month of October.  When we asked her what she wanted to dress up like early on, she didn't really get the whole concept.  Gregg was throwing out suggestions and dinosaur was one of them.  Cal latched on to that and never deviated any time we asked her again.  So.  Dinosaur it was.  Thanks to pinterest, DI and a much more patient crafter husband than I am, we came up with a pretty darn cute little dino costume (if I do say so myself).

I told Callie about what we would do on Halloween while she's wearing her costume, and we read some books from the library about trick-or-treating.  She was psyched about the prospect of "candies!" in her pumpkin bucket.  Unfortunately, she came down with a cold, complete with hacking cough and super duper runny nose and long, long naps, a couple of days before the holiday.  That meant we had to miss out on the Blanchard Cousin Costume Party on Friday and actual trick-or-treating on Saturday.  Luckily she had many opportunities throughout the month to wear her costume and get some treats - she wore it to Grandma Elwood's house before we hit up the pumpkin walk and she had a little party with all the Music Makers friends on Wednesday at the church.  She even got to trick-or-treat at our house on Halloween night.  (I guess she brought our tally of trick-or-treaters up to five!)  It's amazing how a box of Dots and a couple of suckers is all a sick toddler needs to enjoy the holiday.

Welcome to Music Makers, hello, hello, hello!

This is her signature "smile" pose lately.
Not sure what putting your head back as
far as you can has to do with smiling, but
she's two so we just go with it.  :)

bonus video!

Candies!  (You'll see she wasn't deprived
in any sense of the word - all that loot came
from our Music Makers party.  Lots of kids
equals lots of treats.)

Face-timing with Grandma Elwood for her birthday,
while eating a blue Dum Dum, resulted in Callie
discovering her tongue had turned blue!

She got a kick out of walking over to my phone
and sticking out her tongue so she could see the
blueness thereof.

And don't forget Sam!  I found as many excuses as possible to dress him up in these candy corn jammies during October.  Can you believe that Callie wore this same outfit for her first Halloween . . . when she was 4 1/2 months old?  Sam started wearing them at 3 weeks!

First time in the jammies - October 2nd.

Last time in the jammies - October 31st.

I think he doesn't mind Halloween, per se.  He just was annoyed
at his mom for waking him up and taking him outside to snap
some pics.

Are we done yet?

My attempts at getting both kiddos together in a pic turned out rather comical.  I think they look like a dino coming to visit a candy corn-clad Baby Jesus in a manger surrounded by leaves.  Do you see what I see?  Ha.  Oh dear.

Smile!
