A Pumpkin Becomes a Jack-o-Lantern

After sitting on our porch for a couple of weeks, it was time to finally carve our great pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern.  Only problem?  It was already starting to decay and was very mushy.  Too mushy to attempt a carving.  Good thing Cal and I picked a back-up in South Jordan earlier in the week!  The weather after dinner on the 27th was spectacular - we carved outside in t-shirts surrounded by crunchy leaves.  It was autumn evening perfection.

First step: draw the lines to cut.

This one became more like a ball.

And it had a few tastes taken from it before
the evening was over.

Cal was a super gut scooper.

This is that rotten one.  Pretty sorry sight.
(Just wait - it gets worse.)

Eeew!  It feels squishy.

Helpers.

See?  Those three holes in the middle are
from Sam's fingers.  Soft and squishy.

Every pumpkin needs a kiss?

My pumpkin with her pumpkin.

The best we can do with a squirmy toddler and
a three-year-old who was done with the pictures.

A pretty pumpkin porch picture.
