To School

Here we go into the world of school-aged children!  Callie has been so stinkin' excited to start school.  The buildup to the first day was intense: She got a letter right after Summer Kindergarten (a two-week long workshop to prepare for kindergarten) telling her who her teacher is (Mrs. Gobar, PM) and what supplies she needs to bring to class (see below - whew!).  We bought all the things on an epic walmart trip.  We stocked up on books about kindergarten at the library.  She met with her teacher for a kindergarten assessment (knocked it out of the park - apparently she's reading at a third grade level!) the week before school started.  We attended Back to School Night to meet her teacher (again) and get the lay of the land of her classroom and school.  We went back-to-school clothes shopping.  And then it finally came!  August 28th, The First Day of School - she couldn't even stand it, especially having to wait till after lunch to go.  We all walked with her while she rode her bike, and on the way back home she said probably ten times how much she loved school and couldn't wait to go back the next day.

Buying all the things.

Apparently that includes snacks, too.

Info card we got in the mail at the end of July.

Reading all the books.

So excited for her new outfits.

Those sweats are her favorite thing ever.

First day smile.

Matching with the backpack.

Off we go!

Cute entry way to the school this year.

Didn't even look back.

With the start of school, Sam and I now get to have Mom and Sam time for a little while (when he's not asleep).  It's mostly been lots of snuggling and story-reading and I think it's been marvelous!

Couldn't even make it home before conking out.

Some post-nap mom and sam hammock time.
