Photos from Phones - August 2018 Round Up

August seems so long ago as I prepare this post at the end of October.  But it was a great month - the weather finally cooled down in time for the hot air balloon festival (like it always does) and we started hanging out at the park again almost every day.  Of course we also had our big week-long road trip to Glacier and Yellowstone, we made applesauce, Cal started school, and we hiked (a lot).  And we also had plenty of not-so-ordinary ordinary days to fill in the gaps.

8.1.18
(looks like a mess of tree branches (which it is)
but there's also an owl in there, too.  We could hear
it and at least one other hooting back and forth
every morning and evening)

8.1.18
(pool days)
8.2.18
(a stack of summery favorites we enjoyed last month from the library.
not pictured, but also loved: The Raft by Jim LaMarche and Apples
to Oregon by Deborah Hopkinson)

8.2.18
(a couple others that I liked that didn't fit the "summer" theme
above)

8.4.18
(we had a movie theater adventure - the first one
in almost three years! - to see The Incredibles 2.
We ended up on the front row of the theater, which
is soooo close to the screen, but luckly we also had
reclining seats, so we basically lay on our backs
to watch and it worked out just fine)

8.5.18
(Sunday smiles)
8.13.18
(my to-read pile - quite the mix of genres here)

8.13.18
(the library had a special day where we learned
about service ponies and the kids got to brush
and paint them!)

8.16.18
(the lake is getting low! This view is from the spring creek parking
area beach, where we meet Charlie and Erin for a walk on the
bike path)

8.16.18
(good cloud morning)

8.16.18

8.16.18
(he found a red leaf!)

8.16.18
(beach time = rock splashing time)

8.16.18
(sunflower season is in full bloom!)

8.16.18
(thanks to my mom for all the produce and meat to make these
delicious kabobs!)

8.16.18
(it was a delicious meal!)

8.16.18
(while I finished up the applesauce adventure,
gregg to the kids to check out the park as things
were getting set up for the balloon festival)

8.18.18
(another amazing meal - full of all the garden
goodness that good people shared with us)

8.19.18
(Sunday evening shenanigans - I don't even know!)

8.20.18
(story time at the library - with buddy Charlie)

8.20.18
(I love them so)

8.20.18
(my favorite sight. also, note the big "about me"
poster that Callie created all by herself - full of
things she loves)

8.21.18
(can't stop, won't stop)

8.22.18
(impulse buy while school clothes shopping
verdict: the peanut butter pie ones are the best)

8.22.18
(it finally rained and we got a rainbow!)

8.23.18
(my friend Jessie and her mom came to Utah so Jessie could run
the Top of Utah Half Marathon and they stopped by to visit
on their way to Cache Valley.  So fun to see them!)

8.23.18
(friends since 6th grade - a million (okay 22)
years ago!)

8.23.18
(Sam's first dentist visit! I love how tiny he looks
in the chair and how he's gripping the side for dear
life!)

8.24.18
(deck lunch of champions!)

8.25.18
(chocolate zucchini bread - sooooo good!)

8.27.18
(a random assortment of cute art library books)

8.27.18
(so sleepy!)

8.28.18
(eight years as a family!  happy anniversary to us!)

8.29.18
Day two of school - still in pink and blue, still
smiling, too.

8.29.18
Day two of Mom and Sam time - we stopped at the lake to do
a little rock tossing before heading home for a nap (which he
needed desperately since he was beyond grouchy on this little
outing).

8.29.18

8.30.18
(smoke from the "avon fire" that started up this afternoon - we
noticed the smoke as we walked home from school and saw
a few fire trucks speed that direction)

8.30.18

8.30.18
(as I was driving home from the temple I noticed
lots of planes and helicopters over near the fire,
and then one flew right over my head - it had been
filling up in the reservoir and then extinguishing the
fire - pretty lucky that these planes (from Canada)
happened to be at Hill AFB when this fire started!)

8.30.18
(the sunset sure was amazing that night!)
