Kage and Dray Weekend

We got to have a sleepover with cousins Kage and Dray on July 14-15 while their parents were out of town.  We had pizza and a movie Friday evening, plus some cousin time shenanigans in between.  That evening we got a bit of rain and the sky was lovely.  Gregg took the boys out scouting for beach spots for the next day, in case our plan A was taken in the morning.  I made waffles for breakfast on Saturday morning and then the boys and Gregg took off to the church to get started on our cleaning assignment (while I stayed behind with Cal and Sam who were taking forever to finish their food).  Turns out there was a funeral that morning, so they did a bit of quick spot cleaning until the deceased arrived, and then we all headed to the park for some two-on-one basketball.  I don't know who won, but I do know who was tired after that.  The plan was for Laurel and Bret and kids to join us at the beach that afternoon, but we headed there early (at 10:00 am) to snag a spot (the lake is so high there is very little "beach" to be had anywhere) and splash in the water.  Those kids (meaning the Wihongi boys) wore themselves out in the water and ended up coming back to the house with me around 2:00 pm and were both out like a light until Bret woke them up around 3:30 when they got here.  (Callie, on the other hand, stayed at the lake with Gregg All. Day. and never showed signs of tiring out - what a little fish she is!)  We all played some more at the lake after that, and then chowed down at Pat's for dinner before Kage and Dray headed back south with Laurel and Bret to spend the next night or two with them.

Story time.  And of course, Minnie had to be a
part of it all.

Puttin' Gma and Gpa's Tippy the Canoe to good
use at last.

11:30.  He was pooped.

The Farrers try their hands with Tippy.

A crazy cousin crew waiting for their tots.
I don't know what the boys thought of us, their weird/boring uncle and aunt, but Cal and Sam had a blast with their big, cool cousins.  And any cousins (or their parents) who may be reading this post: you're welcome to come sleepover with us anytime, too!  We guarantee pizza and playing and a healthy dose of cousinly adoration.
