Adventuring {Oregon: FHE + Oceanside Beach Again + Old Forest Hike}

Day 5: Friday, June 24th

Early morning snuggles.

And early morning cheey-mccheesertons.

During Sam's morning nap, Cal, Gregg and I took a quick
drive to the beach to check out the tunnel from one side
to the other that we had discovered on Wednesday but
didn't have shoes on to go all the way through.

We came around the point because the tide was
so low and got to see all kinds of ocean-life on
the rocks.

We hurried back to the house to join the rest of the fam for
a family home morning about family history.

Grandpa told a story about a bear and all the kids got to help
with their puppets.

Back to the beach we went, this time with the rest of the clan.

We camped out on the other side from last time (through the
tunnel) for a change in perspective.

Naptime on Grandma.
(Nap schedules were a little skee-whompus
for this guy - he had to take 'em when he could
get 'em.)

Gregg and I took a little walk "date" along the
beach to a little cave.

Time for lunch!

I could watch and listen to waves all day.

I couldn't pick just one of these cute boys.

We saw swarms of people combing the beach Wednesday
evening as the tide went out and someone asked what they were
searching for.  Turns out it was the clear-ish to yellow agates
that were the prized find.
So Heather and Paul got to work searching themselves and came
out with quite the haul.

Too much beachin' can wear a boy out.

Make that two boys.  ;)

After dinner we headed out to Cape Meares again for an
evening hike.  This time instead of going to Big Spruce, we
took the trail the other direction and wandered through
old growth forest for a ways.

Happy hikers are we.

Trees and things growing out of dead trees and things.

The ferns were my favorite!

I spy the ocean again!

Our view at the turn around spot.  The Wihongis
and Paul kept going (and had quite the adventure
getting back - they made it to the beach but ended
up getting a ride back to our house in the back of
a nice someone's pickup instead of going all the way
back on the trail).

Group shot where we parted ways.  Dray was there, he just
didn't make it in the pic.

Ah!  There we all are!
