Sam's Birthday Date

When Sam got to choose what he wanted to do with Grandma and Grandpa Blanchard for his birthday, he picked the same thing Callie did earlier this summer: fishing! Later he changed his mind to scootering at the skate park nearby, but Gregg wisely steered him back to the fishing (and added in bringing along his bike for a little ride on the path), and if you ask Sam about it, the reason is "because Grandma gets nervous when I do something crazy." She confirmed this feeling. And so fishing it was. Luckily they all had a great time. And they (that would be Grandpa!) even caught a fish! We met G&G at the river in Ogden on Friday the 4th, left Sam to party, and the rest of us headed off to dominate the disc golf course at Weber State and visit the ducks at Bues Pond. Fun morning for everyone, I'll say.

Showing off his climbing skills at the park
nearby.

Back in time to net the fish for Grandpa!

It's a whopper!

Tots from Dylan's for lunch.

Fun picnic spot!

He saved his cake and present opening for
when we came back to pick him up.
Isn't he the cutest almost 5-year old you
ever did see?

He had cut out a tiny picture of this "Shipyard
Escape" toy from a grocery ad that came in the mail
and was planning to save up his money to buy it.
So when Grandma asked for suggestions for a birthday
present, we knew just the thing that would make him
happy. He was so excited!

Bonus treats!

Such a fun day and a fun tradition! Long live birthday dates!
