Vermont Relocation Vacation {A Tour of our Condo}

Hello! Welcome to our condo at Jay Peak, our home away from home for the next six weeks. Come on inside and I'll give you a little tour!

Each building in our parking lot has two units. They're each
one-bedroom condos (though there are two-bedroom units that you
can rent elsewhere in the resort, too). (Darling greeters not included.)

Inside the front door we peek back through the blinds
to glimpse the parking lot and our Subaru.

The first room you enter is the mudroom
(this is not the "from the front door" view, but rather
looking back from the kitchen so I could get a better shot
of the room). There are lots of coat hooks on the wall in
the left of this pic. And another nice feature is that the
room is completely closed off by another door once you
get into the kitchen.

There's a closet/bike storage and a bench/
extra box, coffee maker, telephone storage
in the mudroom.

Next, you enter the kitchen from the mudroom, with
the bathroom door on the left. The dining area and living
room are beyond and the doors at the back lead to the deck.
You can see we wasted no time in making ourselves at home.

A view of the kitchen space. We've learned that the dishwasher
is a nice idea, but not super practical in our use. For one thing there
are only enough forks/spoons/etc. for one meal's use, so we'd have
to run the dishwasher three times a day to have clean things . . . or
we'd load up the dishwasher after each meal, but not run it till after dinner,
but have to continuously reach in and grab things and wash them
as we needed them. So we've resorted to washing our few dishes used after
every meal and drying them on a (bath) towel on the counter between washings.
It works. The kitchen came pretty well stocked with pans/dishes/glasses/mixing
bowls/pyrex cooking dishes/etc but the one thing that I need that they don't have is
a sheet pan for baking! I guess we'll have to get creative and MacGyver up
something with foil until we can go shopping after quarantine since I planned some
of our meals with the use of a sheet pan. Time to get creative with menu or materials!

Bathroom. Pretty standard. But the kids
think the "secret compartment cupboard"
behind the mirror is pretty neat.

Now I'm standing in front of the deck doors so you can see where
we've been (and where we're going to go very soon). We did a bit
of furniture rearranging when we got here, by moving the desk that
was against the short wall by the stairs (where all our boxes and bags
are hanging out) downstairs into the bedroom for Gregg's office.

Here's the couch (taken from in front of the fireplace/TV).
(If it looks a little saggy, that's also our fault, since we removed
the mattress from the hide-a-bed and took it downstairs
to the bedroom for the kids. Now, Gregg and I can hang out
for a couple of hours upstairs (with all its amenities)
after the kids go to bed.

From the couch, now you can see the fireplace and TV
and little shelf. Yes, we even brought our calendar
from home, but didn't have anywhere to hang it, so luckily
this random piece of art sitting on the cabinet can serve
as a calendar holder for us, too!

Downstairs we go!
(The chain is counting down our days in
quarantine. :)

From the landing towards the bottom where the stairs
turn we see it opens up into the bedroom. (No door to the
room from the stairs.) Cal and Sam sleep on the floor on
the mattress from the couch bed. Gregg and I feel so far
away from each other in the king bed next door.
The door at the bottom of the stairs is a closet.

You can get outside from downstairs, too!
We love all the light in this place - it feels
so bright!

A dresser that fits almost all our clothes
for a week at a time is nestled next to
and under the stairs and Gregg's work
station is set up on the far wall using the
desk from upstairs and one bedside table
from my side of the bed.

If you look right at the bottom of the staircase
you'll see another door which opens up to the
utility room. Which is HUGE! We considered stuffing
the kids on their floor mattress into this room, but
opted against it. We've already used the laundry facilities,
which have been so nice!

And now we're back upstairs and out on the deck. There is
no way to get down from the deck on the outside, and the
door to the inside locks automatically and can only be opened
with our card key, so we have to be careful to never have the whole
family out there without a key!

Our backyard looks out on the first hole of the golf course
(behind those trees). It's a lovely view!

And here's a view from the backyard of our unit.
We walk up the hill to the left to get to the parking
area and front door.
