December 21st was a big day for the Blanchards. So big, in fact, that we started it Sunday afternoon by driving to Logan after church and naps to spend the evening with the Elwoods and stay overnight so Gregg could head up to Richmond bright and early to catch the opening day at Cherry Peak Ski Area. This wasn't just your average season opener either. This was the first day of a brand new ski area. Opening days like this don't come around too often, so Gregg didn't want to miss it. He met up with Nate, Nate's brother-in-law, Caleb, and Terrell for a morning of turns on the new hill. Gregg even scored first chair up!
Meanwhile, the kids and I hung out with grandma and the aunties. We even got to play with Ev for a while, too! Callie loved cutting out sugar cookies (good thing she got to make them with Grandma because we never got around to doing them at our house this year), bringing all the toys up from downstairs, pushing dolls around in strollers, and filling the play tent with "stuff". I was excited to get to play some Christmas duets with Heather on the piano when she came over for lunch. And Sam just got loved on by everyone.

After Gregg finished up some shopping and Callie woke up from her nap, we headed off to meet the Blanchards in Salt Lake for some Christmas light viewing and dinner (that's a post of its own!). Whew! What a day!
Bonus! Not only did Gregg get first chair on opening day, he also made the front page of the Herald Journal the next morning! See article here.
