Three Months of Sam

Here I am, a week late again on Sam's monthly update post.  But, as they say, better late than never, eh?

Sam continues to be a joy going into his fourth month of life.  We love him so!  A few things he's up to nowadays:

  • chews on hands whenever they're available at the same time as his mouth - my favorite is when he hooks his thumb under his chin and shoves rest of fingers into his mouth as far as they'll go (then he usually gags, which is obviously not my or his favorite)
  • ah-goos - loves to have conversations with anyone who will listen (adorable - if I do say so myself - evidence here and here)
  • smiles all the while
  • sleeps well, though not consistently - went from 7 hours 13 minutes (his record) one night to 2 1/2 - 3 hours the next (but we were on vacation and maybe having a growth spurt - I hope?)
  • traveled great in the car to CO, with a few minor fussy moments
  • still not a big crier - mostly just moans/whines
  • wearing 3-6 month clothes mostly and size 2 diapers
  • grabs things with a good grip - hanging toys on bouncer seat, blankets, burp cloths, mom's hair, fingers
  • still loves to be in front carrier - and falls asleep!  blows me away every time :) But, he also loves to look out while walking around - maybe we'll be switching to forward facing in the front carrier soon
  • will turn his head (and smile) when I say his name as I greet him in his crib in the morning
  • on a pretty consistent eat-play-sleep schedule every 2-3 hours (though sometimes he surprises us and stays awake for a couple hours in a row)
  • tolerates the bink - doesn't love it, doesn't hate it
  • sleeps best swaddled
  • getting pretty good at head control, especially while sitting up, loves to curl forward (strong abs) - but tummy time mostly consists of some complaining and not much head-lifting
  • clasps hands and rubs feet together while playing on the floor
  • a few giggles have come from his jolly belly - happened when I was holding him and said "ha! ha! ha!" right in his face. We haven't heard them often, so they're extra special when we do get a glimpse.

And now, some photos of the handsome fellow:
