One more month (the last month) of these summertime jaunts in the woods. I'm certainly loving this weekly tradition, and I'm glad to have other moms and kids to share the wonders of this world with.
2 August 2017: Green Pond Trail (Snowbasin)
Hikers: Callie, Sam, Kim, Maya, Miles, Caralee, Cohen, Heather, Charlie, Preston, Treasa
Happy hiker. He did walk a lot of the way this time, but it was good to have the pack for when his little legs got too tired. |
Checking out the sea creatures in the pond - those shells they found still had snails inside! |
A little exploration around the pond - we didn't go all the way around, but did get a slightly different vantage point. |
Lunchtime! |
Maya (age 7, I think?) was such a nice friend for Callie on this hike - Cal was in heaven having the big girl hanging out with her! |
9 August 2017: Mule Shoe Trail (North Fork Park)
Hikers: Callie, Sam, Kim, (and Gavin, Elon and Lindsay came, but couldn't find us, so they hiked the same trail from a different spot - our first sort-of solo Wednesday hike, but I'm still counting it as a group hike, even if we didn't find each other due to some direction miscommunication)
Not raining - just back-of-the-car shenanigans while we wait for our friends. |
Water break. |
Sam wanted no part of our group selfie. |
But Callie was willing to oblige. |
Such a dirty face! |
A fun treat on the return trip! |
Tired much? |
Hikers: Callie, Sam, Kim, Gavin, Elon, Lindsay
The trail became a stream for part of the way. Kiddos didn't mind that at all. |
Our destination was this little beaver pond - no beaver sightings today, though. |
Pretty wet spot on the return trip. |
If you zoom in, you'll see Cal and Gavin are holding hands. I don't know whose idea this was, but it was pretty darn cute. |
Parkin' it up at Snowbasin after our hike. |
23 August 2017: Wheeler Creek Trail
Hikers: Callie, Sam, Kim, Charlie, Preston, Treasa, Miles, Caralee, Moriah, Rachel, Sariah
Waiting with Preston and Charlie at the start gate for the rest of the group. |
It was a sunny, warm morning, and lovely as can be. |
Lots of "waterfalls" down below the trail. |
Rock sittin' with Charlie. I think this was before the scraped knee/temper tantrum from the sprite on the right. |
Our destination at last! |
I was so glad Caralee had done this one with her family recently and had found this fun spot to stop. It sure beat the small wooden bridge that I had in mind as our destination. |
Little baby Rachel LOVES the water. |
Rachel, Sariah, Moriah, Preston, Miles, Charlie |
Getting her turn on the coveted seat rock. |
I love this trail because of the high cliff walls on both sides, while still being pretty lush and being a wide trail. A great one to do with kiddos, for sure. |
