Hikes (and Bikes) {September 2021}

The biggest bike and hike got their own posts, plus a couple while we were camping, but there were plenty of others to share here!

9 September 2021: Brim Trail Bike Ride
Gregg promised a mountain bike ride with the kids, so on a less-busy-than-a-weekend-or-evening afternoon midweek, he took them up for a ride. They loved going down, but coming back was definitely tougher. They did it though!

bonus video!

13 September 2021: Art Nord-Icebox Canyon Loop
We haven't been on an official Monday Night Hike for a few weeks, and we hadn't been to the Art Nord Trailhead a single time this summer, so it felt extra great to be hiking the Icebox Canyon Loop again on a glorious fall evening. There wasn't a lot of color in the trees just yet, but definitely enough to give us the sense of fall, which is more than we could ask for. Such a great evening! (And a quick three miler with these hikers these days!)

Love these late yellow bloomers (and goofballs behind).

Purples appearing, too! Such a cheerful combo.

I never get tired of this view of Snowbasin!

The burn scar from the fire that started on the 24th of July.

15 September 2021: North Arm Overlook Nature Journaling
We have been loving our outings to the North Arm Trailhead for our nature journaling on Wednesday mornings. This time we hiked to the overlook and sketched leaves and berries and bugs as we enjoyed the sunshine on a crisp morning.

So THIS is why they call it fireweed!
(Totally makes sense now, since the pretty purple
flowers and green leaves of summertime don't really
scream "fire" to me. But these red and yellow and orange
ombre leaves with the whispy, smokey-like remains of
the flowers . . . yep, I get it now!)

21 September 2021: Green Pond Trail
When Erin invited us to meet up with them for a fall hike, we couldn't refuse . . . even when it was two days before we left for Vermont! We hiked the Green Pond Trail and enjoyed the leaves and the company and the quiet of the pond. No moose today (I've never seen a moose here, unfortunately, but I do know they are around!), but we still had a great hike with great friends.

Not really very green this time of year. But still lovely.

Love that beaver lodge!

Little Logan had to run ahead like the big kids.

The colors were a bit muted/faded compared to other years,
but it was still lovely!
