Vermont 2021 {10/14: Hitchcock Memorial Museum & Library, Westfield Park}

Just like on Wednesday, Thursday the 14th turned into another morning school, afternoon outing day for the moms and kids set. We wanted to check out a cute old library (of course we did!) slash museum in nearby Westfield that we've been passing on all our journeys to Lake Eden. It's only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-5, so we had to plan this outing accordingly. I think we really confused the librarian when all six of us clomped through the squeaky front door, but she welcomed us in and showed us the kids room which was full of fun books and (even more fun) toys. The kids had a blast playing with new things while we perused the shelves and bins. Then we moved upstairs to see the exhibits. This library/museum was built in 1899 and many of the specimens and samples on display are at least that old! We even had a cute little local boy (I think he's the librarian's nephew) show us all the highlights of the museum (like the two-headed calf and rattlesnake). There were plenty of cabinets of curiosity to satisfy anyone!

Cal got creative with the bananagrams
this morning.

Ha. Eight year olds. Need I say more?

The cute library museum.

The cute library museum visitors.
Cozy nook.

Kids room.

Two-headed and two-tailed calf!

Lots of rocks and shells and corals and little historical
items. Plus tons of taxidermied animals and those cool old flags!

I loved the ceiling tiles!

The entryway.

All the kids spotted this park as we drove into town
so we made a stop on the way home to get some wiggles out.
