Vermont 2021 {10/5: Stateside}

After a crazy car ride on Monday, we decided an afternoon (5 Oct) spent closer to home with plenty of movement was a good idea, so instead of another big fieldtrip, Christine and I took the kids and the bikes up to Stateside to hang out after school. It was cloudy, but not rainy, and we had a great time enjoying the view, riding around the big parking lot, wandering through the trees, eating on the patio, finding "treasures" on the bleachers and sitting on the lift. Sam and Zachary even got brave an rode their bikes down all the steps in the seating area. (A bumpy ride, indeed!)

It's kind of fun to have next door neighbors!
(Especially when I need a bit of oil and I can just run over
and borrow some! ;)

Stateside leaves lookin' sassy!

We discovered that the vivid setting make
the leaves actually look like they do to our eyes!

Red clover, the state flower.

The same spot we had our Christmas card picture taken
last year. :)

"School" pics?

Sure do love her smile!

Anybody seen a goofball around lately?

If you squint you can see a few biker boys riding
around the lot.

Daredevil.

When we got back home, the kids played and made sculptures out of the bits and baubles they found during the day (good thing Cal brought that bottle of glue!) and I finished baking the cookies I had started earlier. After dinner, Cal and I took a walk down our road and spotted tons of big, gross slugs dining on mushrooms! Wow!

This is the view at the end of our parking area. Really.

Pumpkin cookies taste like fall!

Dinner time for the slugs!

So many slugs!

Looking back up our street. We had a tiny peek at blue
sky earlier in the afternoon, but it didn't last long and the
clouds rolled back in.

Love these flaming ferns!

A license plate at the last parking area on the road
made me smile.
