Vermont 2021 {Getting There: MN, WI, MI}

(Day 3, cont) Saturday, 25 September 2021: Walnut Grove, MN to Minnestrista, MN to Chippewa Falls, WI to Abbotsford, WI to Iron Mountain, MI
After leaving Plum Creek, we drove on to Minnestrista, MN to Lake Minnetonka Regional Park to meet up with Gregg's pal/co-worker/co-partner Patrick. We had hoped to spend the afternoon with his whole family, but unfortunately his kids were sick so he just came solo. Gregg and Patrick walked and talked and the kids played on the awesome park and I sat in the sunshine and read blog posts on my phone. It was a heavenly couple of hours in the early fall sunshine!

After our visit, we drove and drove and the drive can be summed up as: corn fields + tractors + sky. It was a beautiful drive. We stopped in Chippewa Falls for dinner at Burger King and continued onward. Our evening park stop was in Abbotsford, WI, and then we drove and drove through more fields of corn and endless sky. Till it got dark and then we wound our way through the north woods to Iron Mountain, MI for the night.

While we waited for Patrick to arrive, Gregg and I lapped the
mini 3-hole disc golf course a few times.

The kids were in heaven on this epic and ginormous
playground.

The diggers were lots of fun, too.

I loved these bright red leaves!

Cal gives it a high ranking.

Milestone! Sam completed his first set(s)
of monkey bars! He has been close, but this
was the time and the place to nail that goal!

Fields and sky.

Sky and fields.

Farms and fields and tractors and sky.

Mushrooms in a hollow tree at the park
in Abbotsford.

Fun teeter totter "hungry hungry hippos" toy.

Awesome sunset clouds.

And it actually got even better than this as we drove
away, but it was in the rear view so I couldn't get a good
pic.

Finished our first audiobook on our cross-country drive, one I had read by myself earlier this summer, but wanted to share with the fam, and luckily they all loved it too. I think I might have loved it even more the second time! The narrator was excellent!
