Vermont 2021 {10/8: Tram Ride, Lake Eden}

We had been trying to time our tram ride to the top of Jay Peak just right so we'd have peak leaves and prime weather for viewing them. And of course getting it in before the fall rides closed on October 11th. Everything came together perfectly on Friday, 8 October for our big ride. We walked together with the McClungs to Provisions to buy our tickets and then headed to the tram to hop on. We had to wait a bit longer than we thought since the ride started at 11 on Fridays instead of 10, but we got to ride up on the first tram of the day. The leaves were just past peak toward the peak, but that didn't matter, since the colors were absolutely breathtaking! We had fun crawling along the rocks at the top and soaking in the views in every direction. Then we rode back down and got some lunch at "home".

Later that afternoon, we packed some snacks and water bottles and drove about a half hour south to Lake Eden. We had driven past Lake Eden a few times last year when we were here, but never stopped, so it was fun to finally check it off. And we all loved it! It was a gorgeous afternoon, the leaves were prime, the lake was calm, and we just vegged on the grass while the kids played at the park and splashed in the water (definitely should've brought the swim suits, but never even thought of it for an outing in October!).

Apple crisp October day if I've ever seen one!

The leaves are seriously unreal!

Waiting for the tram.

A big group this year! Vermont is open
and it's obviously different than last year!

Leaves as far as the eye can see!

On the tippy top of Jay Peak!

Jackson made the trip to the top, too.

Group shot!

Last year we were freezing up here, but this year was
so pleasant!

Christine and me - friends since middle school!

Back down we go - we even got to stop at one of the towers
to let some workers hop on top of the tram and ride back
down!

There's Ullr's Pond that we visited the other day!

Flipping and cartwheeling for joy at Lake Eden!

And handstands, too!

So delightful!

  1. So pretty! The leaves here have been awesome this year, but we can’t compare for quantity of trees!
