Photos from Phones - October 2019 Round Up

What's that famous Anne of Green Gables quote that is splattered all over social media this time of year?  "I'm thankful to live in a world where there are Octobers?"  Yeah, that about sums it up for me!  We've been doing all the October things, like hiking in the leaves and picking out pumpkins. enjoying fall break, and walkin' the pumpkin walk.  And we can't forget all the costuming and candy eating!  Plus we've been doing all these October things, too:

10.1.19
(always a lovely sight)

10.1.19

10.2.19
(the sun was making some lovely crepuscular rays as we walked
home from dropping Cal off at school one morning, so I attempted
a photo, which didn't really capture it like my eyes did, but
still looks semi-pretty)

10.2.19
(Callie is really into graphic novels lately, especially dog man
(I don't know why, but she's a fan), so when my fave read aloud
revival gal shared about the drawing lesson, I knew I had to check
it out for Cal and she loved it, too)

10.2.19
(a post dinner walk/ride down the street to get Sam's wiggles out -
something he has an unlimited supply of, it seems!)

10.4.19
(Gregg spoke at a conference in New Jersey and then spent a
night and a morning in NYC with the Farrers before flying back
home.  He sent Sam this pic of a monorail at the airport)

10.4.19
(first taste of the city - times square - did not
impress)

10.4.19
(friday night pizza, nyc style)

10.4.19
("I love that movie!"

10.5.19
(conference time!)

10.5.19
(central park views - brought up his opinion of
the big apple getting away from nasty times square)

10.5.19
(look at those cute faces enjoying a lovely morning in the park)

10.5.19
(2:21 pm - zonked)

10.5.19
(2:21 pm - him, too)

10.6.19
(a couple more apple-y faves)

10.7.19
(some halloween/fall faves - many are oldie goodies
that we have loved for years, but a couple are new
this year, and at least Popcorn has become a new
all-time fave - Sam was so cute one day on the way
home from school when he retold Callie the entire
story after only reading it with me once before
that morning.  I think he loves it because the bear's
name is Sam.)

10.7.19
(a couple cute library picks this week)

10.7.19
(the leaves outside the library were falling like
crazy so we had to take advantage after discovery
time to play before the grounds crew cleaned them
all up)

10.7.19

10.7.19
(BFFs)

10.7.19
(truly Yellow Time (a la one of those fall faves pictured above))

bonus video!

10.7.19

10.7.19
(this is Landon, our friend who has been having
a rough few weeks in and out of the hospital
with bacterial infections; his mom, Jen, sent
me this pic of him smiling just made my day)

10.7.19
(FHE chart filled out by Sam tonight, usually it's
Cal's job, but this time Sam got a turn and did a
great job)

10.8.19
(started reading this one last night - it's lovely
and very well done.  And you can bet your
bottom that I passed it along to Cal (she loved it, too)

10.8.19
(Oh, what was that about Anne's Octobers quote?)

10.9.19
(leaves are falling all around - but they're still green!)

10.9.19
(Sam has started putting book marks in his books,
too.  :D)

10.10.19
(a few more great reads from the library this week)

10.11.19
(you know what this means?)

10.11.19
(pre-dawn snowmaker set up)

10.11.19
(it's snowing on the way to school!)

10.11.19
(changing leaves on our walk to school)

10.11.19
(and at the park - I love those reds!)

10.11.19
(I spy snow)

10.11.19

10.11.19

10.11.19
(remember my old hashtag #kimmaskitchenview?)

10.11.19
(after-school play time)

10.12.19
(Kylie's baby shower shenanigans)

10.12.19
(she had a full house of people who love her and her babe!)

10.12.19
(Michael's mom, JoLene, testing out my poopy diaper game -
she was a good sport)

10.12.19
(present time! this baby girl will be well dressed, that's for sure!)

10.12.19
(food table)

10.12.19
(Cal and the kids and the dads were downstairs playing and eating
and watching football; Callie sent Grace upstairs with these notes
and we all had a good chuckle.  She eventually joined us and the 40
or so others crammed in the living room and had a fun time at the party,
but I don't blame her about being nervous with all those strangers!)

10.12.19
(birthday party dinner for Paul at El
Paisa - all you can eat street taco bar
was pretty fun and tasty!)

10.12.19
(reading this was interesting - it's just a series of
essays about random topics like teeth, apples, wasps,
the sun, etc, that don't really have anything to do
with autumn or each other, but are quite well written
and entertaining anyway.)

10.13.19
(our walk to church looked like this - it's been a long time since
we've done the walk to church, but it was a gorgeous (if chilly)
morning for it and I'm glad we got out there with the hot air balloon!)

10.13.19

10.13.19
(we drove up to Snowbasin for a leaf-peeping
Sunday afternoon drive)

10.14.19
(Sam is still into the moon theme, and if you add dinos to the
mix, well then prepare to read that book over and over and over
and over and over and over again)

10.14.19
(trying to turn yellow, but i think the super cold
snap we had earlier kind of killed the color
in the valley, unfortunately)

10.14.19
(making this pumpkin spice sheet cake on repeat the past week
and a half and this time tried them in cupcake form for the PTO
teacher dinner during parent teacher conferences)

10.14.19
(finished this one tonight - Callie especially
loved it, but I think it was a great family
listen all around)

10.17.19
(finished this one today and we all got into
it (even Sam who usually says no when I
offer to turn on an audiobook in the car (even
though he usually ends up loving the listening
anyway) said yes! with this one and Gregg
who wasn't with us when we finished the last
20 minutes asked for a recap after we got home)

10.18.19
(we spent our Friday of fall break in Heber visiting Heatha and
Gracie and Sam was thrilled that we got to eat lunch at "the
train restaurant" that we pass on the way to their house)

10.18.19
(Callie was my secretary on the drive
to and from Heber - she texted all the people
I needed to send messages to, and then
some!  I just had to record the cute
phase that she's in, so enjoy this series of
texting convos she had with Gregg en route.)

10.18.19

10.18.19

10.18.19

10.18.19

10.18.19

10.18.19

10.18.19

10.18.19
(she was also texting my mom, who joined
us in Heber at lunch time at The Dairy Keen)

10.18.19

10.19.19

10.18.19

10.18.19
(Sam and I took a little walk to the park and I just thought this
weird fence thing looked lovely in the evening light)

10.18.19
(I made this bread with apples from my grandma's
tree (recipe courtesy of my friend Christine) -
I did part whole wheat flour and used 1/2 cup
brown sugar, but everything else was the same)

10.18.19
(Those crunchy topping bits that fell off while I was getting the
bread out of the pans was soooo good (and so dangerous!))

10.19.19
(Cal wrote this note to her friend Macy and I just
couldn't resist saving it for posterity - I love
her handwriting and her instructions on how
to eat a pine nut!)

10.19.19
(we had a pj party (all planned by Cal) this cold,
rainy evening, and one part was drawing
halloween pictures - Cal's is on the top and is her
and Sam in their costumes trick or treating, Sam's
is on the bottom has has an assortment of halloween
creatures (including him and Cal trick or treating,
as well).)

10.19.19
(our gallery and the party sign)

10.19.19
(I love her advertising speak)

10.20.19
(I found this in a pile of papers in my church bag
and had to save it - what a sweet testimony my
Callie girl has!)

10.20.19
(another random paper from my bag - I love the
picture (especially the cars!) but my favorite part
is the title and by line)

10.20.19
(one more church bag treasure)

10.20.19
(packing up the library books for tomorrow and
had to document these fun ones)

10.21.19
(moody sky detour on our way home from school drop off)

10.21.19

10.21.19

bonus video!

10.21.19
(our friend Logi-Bear snoozing during discovery
time with his cute scrunched up cheeks)

10.22.19
(this aloe plant gift from heatha needs some
serious planty interventions)

10.22.19
(I think I killed it)

10.22.19
(spying on the construction of a new goldenwest branch in eden
for my dad - better hurry if they're going to really open in december!)

10.23.19
(finished this and was blown away that the info
I assumed was the fiction part of this historical
fiction read was really based on facts, too!)

10.23.19
(a cute drawing cal made for her teacher)

10.24.19
(umm - that forecast is looking pretty
chilly for October!)

10.24.19
(only piles of squishy squashy pumpkins at this pumpkin
patch, so we posed on the tractor for a pic and headed to Valley
Market to buy our squashes instead)

bonus videos!

(aren't they good?  and Sam really does know all the words
to Jesus Once Was a Little Child, he just really didn't want
to sing while he knew he was being filmed.  And I don't blame him!)
(also, side note: they totally rocked it during the program, too!  Sam
was the only one in his class who sang.  he kept saying all week as we
sang the songs over and over that "sister bott will be so proud of me"
and she totally was!  haha)

10.26.19
(aren't they cute?)

10.26.19
(Cal's on the left and Sam's on the right)

10.27.19
(I thought things would improve
as the week progressed, but the
forecast is only getting colder!)

10.27.19
(oh!  and we woke up to snow on primary program Sunday!
Luckily gma and gpa made it with great gma from Logan
safely, even though it was sketchy driving through
sardine canyon.  it was so nice to have them there!)

10.27.19
(Another stash to load up before library day.  These were some
of our fall and halloween faves this month.)

10.28.19
(the chilliest morning you ever did walk by the reservoir before
library)

10.28.19
(two boys in a tepee)

10.28.19
(I think it was like 15 degrees or so!  but just look at that mirror
(again))

10.29.19
(even more snow on our walk to school today!)

10.29.19
(the kids were seriously in heaven - they frolicked in the snow
for about a block before hopping back in the burley for the rest
of the ride to school)

10.29.19

10.29.19
(I took this mainly because the pumpkins on the
railing looked super cute in their little snow hats)

10.29.19
(the first thing she did when she got home from
school was bundle back up and head out to
play in the snow!)

10.30.19
(it was SO cold this morning (something between
0 and -3!!) and I thought these ice footprints
left over from yesterday's snow were especially
pretty in the morning sun)

10.30.19
(As we walked to school it looked like we were heading into
a giant cloud. These form when the lake is warmer than
the air and all this steam/mist rises up from the water and
accumulates into a big mass of clouds.  It's pretty cool!)

10.30.19
(my friend Nikki sent me this pic from her morning
walk by the lake (which she took right after
thinking I was insane for walking the kids
to school in such temps).  there's that mist coming
off the water up close.)

10.30.19
(post-school heat vent time)

10.30.19
(yep, still more halloween and creatures of the night
book goodies)

10.31.19
(our halloween movie of choice - has nothing
to do with halloween, but is super interesting
and really well made.  highly reccommned it!)

10.31.19
