Photos from Phones - July 2021 Round Up

Check me out! Only a week into August and I'm posting the July round up! Pretty speedy, if I say so myself! ;) July was a great month. Hot, yes, but full of good times (as you can tell by the plethora of posts before this one). Here's the leftover bits of July that didn't fit anywhere else. Enjoy!

7.3.21
(good morning, hot air balloon!)

7.3.21
(ice cream from Farr's - a summer bucket list
check!)

7.3.21
(this orange sherbet helped Cal switch her tagline
for Farr's from Farr Worst Ice Cream to Farr Better
Ice Cream (she had a bad experience last time we
were here with their lemon custard - stick to the sherbet!))

7.4.21
(just doing some sleuthing for girls camp on google maps
to see what kind of tent space we have in our group site)

7.4.21
(Grandpa B sent this photo of a note he found
left by Cal the day before)

7.4.21
(she is really into leaving surprises and notes around
grandparents' houses, and they
keep finding them days and weeks later!)

7.7.21
(I promised the kids we'd stop for snowcones
in Huntsville after our hike this morning.
Cal's cone matched her shirt!)

7.7.21
(And Sam's matched his (till it mixed in
the middle into purple).)

7.9.21
(We made a quick library drop on the way to the pool this morning and I realized I never snapped any pics of the good ones. These are the good ones. Loved the collage art in Prairie Days and the depth of Milo.)

7.10.21
(another Saturday morning - another hot air
balloon siting!)

7.10.21

7.10.21

7.10.21

7.17.21
(Sometimes I type a word or two into the library catalog search and put everything that comes up on hold. Can you guess my word(s) this time? ;))

7.17.21
(These were some of the faves of the week.)

7.17.21
(Missed this one in the previous photo, but it’s great enough for a post of its own. We learned a lot about pigeons, plus it was in a fun beginner graphic novel format. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ)

7.17.21
(mixing up a double batch of dill dip to take on our Elwood
reunion trip. (Before we found out about our covid exposure
and that we'd be quarantining at home . . . with a double batch
of dill dip!)

7.18.21
(This was an entertaining story of four women competing in a WWII-time cooking competition to become an assistant presenter on a radio cooking program. I liked the rotating points of view of each character and the recipes interspersed through the chapters. And I learned so much about rations and tricks to make things taste good even when staples are scarce. (How lucky we are to have all the butter and sugar we could want!!))

7.19.21
(we found a snowcone maker we got for our wedding
and had never opened, complete with paper cones and
straw-spoons!)

7.19.21
(we made syrup flavored with some (even older than the machine)
kool-aid packets we found in the cupboard and
snow cones have been a constant feature of our July ever since!)

7.20.21
(This was super quick but really thought provoking. What would you take if you could only grab one thing in a fire?! I loved the poetry format, which she talks about at the end.)

7.20.21
(I flew through this companion of sorts to The Midnight Library. After I finished that book, I looked up Matt Haig and saw he was coming out with this nonfiction collection of essays, quotes, poems, lists, all with the idea of comforting someone, anyone, everyone who is dealing with depression or anxiety or comparison or ... life. It was really quick to read, but I need to go back and savor it! So many gems to think over! Also, can we just talk about how comforting that cover is?! Here’s a bit from the back that sums it up perfectly: “This is the book to pick up when you need the wisdom of a friend, the comfort of a hug, or the consolation of knowing the messy miracle that is being alive.”)

7.20.21
(Sam is trying to be like Bradley by wearing
his swimsuit as clothes today)

7.20.21
(July's tie dye project is ombre tie dye
with the kit from Lea and Ryan and the girls.)

7.20.21
(sunset leggings lookin' snazzy!)

7.20.21
(speaking of snazzy - somebody got a haircut!)

7.20.21
(What, you don’t watch your kids in the pool while reading a book about cheese plates?! Ha! I heard about this in a foodie newsletter and immediately checked it out. It’s a weird secret (obviously not anymore) dream of mine to make a fancy charcuterie board for some reason and this book teaches just how to do that. It’s gorgeous and clever and makes my mouth water just looking at it! πŸ§€ πŸ‡ πŸ₯– 🍫)

7.20.21
(the photo I've been waiting for all day - they did it! all 15 miles of the
hiawatha (and some even biked 15 miles all the way back rather
than wait 90 minutes for the shuttle ride back)!!)

7.22.21
(another Anne Lamott that I've had on my TBR for years . . . I had to read
this on on my kindle app on my phone, which, as I've said, isn't my fave, but
actually worked out okay. Again, I quite like her writing style,
and even though some of her language/life choices/cultural references are not super
relatable to me, I could relate to the new mom feelings she described. Brought
back a lot of memories, that's for sure!)

7.23.21
(tried out a new park near the rodeo grounds in Ogden
while we were waiting for our post-covid test Chinese food
to be ready for lunch)

7.25.21
(Sunday snuggling cuties)

7.25.21
(smiling Sunday snuggling cuties)

7.26.21
(When you go a little crazy on the holds ... and they all come in at the same time!
Where should I start?!)

7.26.21
(Humphrey for everyone! (I love that they have both older and younger
versions of this adventurous hamster series!) 🐹)

7.28.21
(Winner winner chicken dinner! πŸ† I got a call today from my library saying I won the adult summer reading prize this month! I didn’t know what that meant, but I was way surprised and happy to get this bowl full of goodies: certificates for ice cream, fro yo cake, Italian restaurant, cupcake, roosters pub, a stuffed animal thing, an art print, chapstick, and, of course, a couple of books and the bowl itself! Way fun! I love my library!)

7.30.21
(our friend Erin invited us to come pick some
of her apricots at her new house in Clinton)

7.30.21
(so we did!)

7.30.21
(and we played at the park behind their house,
too - fun morning, indeed!)

7.30.21
(scratching my head at the whole "power
wagon" tagline for these new Ram trucks.
This is the second one we've seen in a week
and it just seems . . . weird. Especially there
on the side!)

7.30.21
(craft time with Callie)

7.30.21
(She designed and sewed this cute summery
dress for her barbie, nearly all by herself!)

7.30.21
(complete with a little bead/button on the
back to keep things in place)

7.31.21
(We finally finished listening to this one: A fantasy mixed with Chinese folklore, with the flavor of the Wizard of Oz. It was a little convoluted and tricky to get into, but once we did, we liked it, especially the end.)
